Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:10, 23 February 2026 (UTC)- Thanks for your help Graeme! I had a question. So 2-Chloro-4,6-dimethoxy-1,3,5-triazine is more commonly referred to as CDMT. But there is already a wikipedia page for CDMT. Is there a way to change the name of this new 2-Chloro-4,6-dimethoxy-1,3,5-triazine page to CDMT or is that name just taken? It would make searching simpler since no one is going to remember this long IUPAC name. I appreciate your advice and support. Aldol732 (talk) 23:56, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
- No, the name is not "just taken"; it can be changed. But you may want to read WP:Disambiguation first. The right course of action depends on the extent to which the Council for Dance, Drama and Musical Theatre is the primary topic associated with "CDMT". I suspect (without evidence) that it is.
- If many more "CDMT" searchers mean the council than the triazine, then at most you should put a second WP:HATNOTE link on CDMT for the few misdirected users. In the unlikely case where the searchers mean each with comparable frequencies, then you can WP:MOVE the current contents of CDMT to an appropriate title (probably Council for Dance, Drama and Musical Theatre) and replace the current contents of CDMT with a disambiguation page (here's our style guide). Reaction pictures
[edit]Aldol732, I noticed that you tend to "bundle" multiple chemical reaction diagrams into a single image. Please don't do that.
Almost always, each reaction has associated descriptive text in the article. Often, a future revision of the page will split up that text to different places on the page. (This eventuality becomes much more likely when I edit it. 😂) When the split happens, ideally the image would also be "unbundled" to separate off the corresponding reactions. But IMHO rarely do WP editors enjoys making that image edit; most find it annoying, and some are too intimidated to touch images (not to mention, if the images are in JPG format, then each edit loses information). Consequently it would be better if the image comes "pre-split".
TBC: your visual design choices aren't unreasonable; I'm concerned solely about future maintenance. To get the same visual effect as you do now, just put the pictures one after the other. That is, instead of

you can write

and it should look pretty much the same. Thanks, Bernanke's Crossbow (talk) 02:51, 23 October 2026 (UTC)
- No problem. I appreciate the guidance. I will proceed as suggested in the future. Are you requesting I do this for my previous edits? Thanks. Aldol732 (talk) 11:07, 23 October 2026 (UTC)
