SVGEditor: where is the button?
[edit]Hello! I've installed your SVGEditor script, but I haven't noticed any changes. The documentation mentions a "button", but I don't see it. Where should I be looking? I've install the script to common.js on both Wikipedia and Commons, and have tried viewing the file page on both ends. I've tried purging the page cache. I'm using the default Vector skin.
A screenshot on the documentation page showing where the button appears would be very helpful. – Scyrme (talk/solidarity) 06:47, 5 October 2026 (UTC)
- @Scyrme Looks like the extension needed a quick fix due to a MediaWiki change. It should be good now, are you able to try again? – BrandonXLF (talk) 06:01, 6 October 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, it seems to be working now. Thank-you! – Scyrme (talk/solidarity) 08:11, 6 October 2026 (UTC)

ShowUserGender script
[edit]I have installed the script at User:BrandonXLF/ShowUserGender, but it doesn't seem to be working. I've bypassed cache already. How long does it take to start working, which mention of the username does it show up next to and does it work with signatures? Theeverywhereperson talk here In solidarity! 14:15, 22 October 2026 (UTC)
- @Theeverywhereperson Hello! It should start working right away after being installed, and it should show up for all mentions of usernames in wikitext (for example this talk page). How did you install it? – BrandonXLF (talk) 14:40, 22 October 2026 (UTC)
- Using an installation button on the page, not manually. Theeverywhereperson talk here In solidarity! 14:46, 22 October 2026 (UTC)
- Do I need to configure something? Theeverywhereperson talk here In solidarity! 14:46, 22 October 2026 (UTC)
- @Theeverywhereperson No, it should work out of the box. Do you see any errors on your JavaScript console (mw:Help:Locating broken scripts#Identify the problems)? – BrandonXLF (talk) 14:53, 22 October 2026 (UTC)
- No, it just doesn't work. Maybe it's incompatibility with a gadget that I have which shows local times for comments. Theeverywhereperson talk here In solidarity! 14:55, 22 October 2026 (UTC)
- @Theeverywhereperson Does it work on non-talk pages, eg. User:BrandonXLF/H? – BrandonXLF (talk) 15:02, 22 October 2026 (UTC)
- No, and are you using it right now? If not, then you need to bug fix. Theeverywhereperson talk here In solidarity! 15:07, 22 October 2026 (UTC)
- @Theeverywhereperson Yes I am using it right now, and it works fine my my end. If you could run
[...$('.userlink').map((_,x) => decodeURIComponent(x.href))].join(' ')on your end and paste the result here, that could help with figuring out what the issue is with your setup. Thanks! – BrandonXLF (talk) 15:14, 22 October 2026 (UTC)- How do I do that? Theeverywhereperson talk here In solidarity! 15:16, 22 October 2026 (UTC)
- You'll need to enter it in the JS console, see mw:Help:Locating broken scripts#Identify the problems. For chrome at least it is Command+Option+J (Mac) or Control+Shift+J (other). – BrandonXLF (talk) 15:33, 22 October 2026 (UTC)
- It returns a space. Theeverywhereperson talk here In solidarity! 15:36, 22 October 2026 (UTC)
- @Theeverywhereperson Turns out my script was reliant on having a specific gadget installed. It should be working now for you. – BrandonXLF (talk) 21:09, 22 October 2026 (UTC)
