Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Climateclass, and welcome to Wikipedia! I'm Mathglot and I've volunteered to be your Wikipedia mentor. I'm here for you whenever you need help with Wikipedia. It's great to have you on board to help create this online encyclopedia.

See your homepage for a brief tutorial. Here are a few links you might find helpful:

I see that you are a Wiki Education program student. Good luck in your course! Feel free to contact your Wiki Ed expert, Ian (Wiki Ed), for questions about your assigned article, the training modules, or general questions about Wikipedia. Based on your course, you might want to consider joining WikiProject Climate.

Help is available: as your Mentor, you can always find me listed in the "Get editing help" module bottom right on your homepage; there are also additional help links there. You can also ask me questions directly on my talk page, or try the Wikipedia:Teahouse to get help designed especially for new users from a team of experienced volunteers. So go ahead and ask questions — we're here to help!

Once again, welcome to Wikipedia! Mathglot (talk) 20:58, 20 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

A heads-up about your username

[edit]

Hello again. Unless I am very much mistaken your username is in violation of Username policy regarding names implying shared use. Please don't be surprised to see an administrator message arrive below pretty soon stating that it your username is in violation, and blocking you from editing articles. While you wait for that to appear, you should be thinking about what username you want, instead of this one. Any name that implies that only one person, not a group, will log in under that name is acceptable; for example, you could choose User:Climate class Carol, User:Climatology fan, or User:I like sandwiches, or pretty much whatever you want. Just as long as it doesn't violate WP:Username policy. Your Wikipedia expert, Ian (Wiki Ed) has already been notified about the situation. Your instructor, StearnsLeigh, should be alerted about this as well. (And maybe Sage (Wiki Ed), too, as the class roster will change, and I'm not sure if the Wiki Ed software adjusts the course page automatically for name changes or not.) Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 00:41, 22 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

You might want to have a look at Wikipedia:Changing username. The sooner you can think about what name you want, the faster you will be able to continue editing without having to wait around. I suggest you come up with your new username ASAP, and then follow the procedure at Wikipedia:Changing username#Requesting a username change. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 00:52, 22 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Mathglot: The Dashboard doesn't automatically pick up username changes until the user goes through the login flow again, or someone manually inputs the updated username. (See https://dashboard.wikiedu.org/faq/6). Once the username is updated, the on-wiki class roster will get updated the next time that some of the other information gets changed (such as adding an assigned article), but otherwise might stay out of date for a while. --Sage (Wiki Ed) (talk) 16:05, 26 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Pinging Ian (Wiki Ed) (yes again, sorry) because their choice of username change to 'Climatefan' was rejected as too similar to an existing one (ClimateFan), and is now stalled at Wikipedia:Changing_username/Simple awaiting a new name selection. Ian, please monitor this user when they resurface to ensure they complete the name change process; and maybe update the class roster as well when the process completes. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 08:01, 27 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Attention needed at username change request

[edit]

Hello. A renamer or clerk has responded to your username change request, but requires clarification before moving forward. Please follow up at your username change request entry as soon as possible. Thank you. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 01:08, 22 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Climateclass. The username you picked is already in use (or was, previously) by someone else. Please make sure that the new name you request is not already the username of somebody else. You can do this, by checking the database of existing usernames at Special:CentralAuth. If it shows as available there, then you're good. After you have found a new, unused username, please go to Wikipedia:Changing username/Simple#Climateclass and let them know what username you decided on. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 08:55, 22 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

You need to deal with your username issue

[edit]

Climateclass, it's been a month since you were notified (here, and here) about a possible issue with your username. Since then, nothing has happened with it, and you are still editing under the original name. If you continue to edit without dealing with this, I will request an administrator to block you, until you do. The original request was left open too long and has been archived. You will have to start another one. Adding Ian (Wiki Ed). Cheers, Mathglot (talk) 00:34, 22 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Noting this edit of 15:15, 26 February 2026 and this one of 16:57, 26 February 2026. Still editing, and still not attending to your username issue? Mathglot (talk) 20:26, 26 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Notice of noticeboard discussion

[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard regarding your non-responsiveness to a username rename request. The thread is Climateclass – username violation. Mathglot (talk) 00:30, 27 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

In the linked discussion, I have requested that your editing privileges be suspended. You are welcome to participate in the discussion. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 00:47, 27 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
I ended up moving the discussion to WP:Usernames for administrator attention, so you can find it there. Mathglot (talk) 07:46, 27 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
The discussion was resolved at WP:UAA and then rapidly removed from the page by HBC AIV helperbot14. For the record, it can still be viewed at Special:Permalink/1340721975#User-reported at the bottom of the page. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 08:05, 27 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been blocked indefinitely because your username appears to relate to a collective entity. Please see our blocking and username policies for more information.

We invite everyone to contribute constructively to Wikipedia, but users are not allowed to edit with accounts that have inappropriate usernames, and we do not tolerate 'bad faith' editing such as trolling or other disruptive behavior. If you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, or would otherwise like to explain why you should be unblocked, you are welcome to appeal this block – read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the following text to the bottom of your user talk page: {{unblock-un|new username|your reason here ~~~~}}. DoubleGrazing (talk) 07:35, 27 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Climateclass: I have blocked you from editing because of your unresolved username issue, and also because I'm concerned by your lack of response to any of the messages posted here. Sorry if this seems a drastic measure, but communication with other users is a cornerstone of a collaborative project like Wikipedia, even if there aren't any issues to resolve, and certainly when there are. Please start talking to us, let's get your username changed, and then I'll be more than happy to unblock you and you can get back to editing. Hope to hear from you soon. Hi! i tried to redo my username many time but it will not let me Climateclass (talk) 16:58, 2 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Just copy the template about: {{unblock-un|new username|your reason here ~~~~}} and replace "new username" with your new choice (and "your reason here" with something brief"). Someone who can make the change should be along shortly to help. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 17:01, 2 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
I have the global rename perm so can do it. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:04, 2 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
