Today's story has a sad end: Antonino Fogliani, mostly Rossini -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:41, 5 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Only 50?? That's very sad. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:42, 5 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yes. 100: Geles Cabrera, a Mexican sculptor - I didn't look much at the Spanish refs, - perhaps it's easier for you to search for things not yet mentioned. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:44, 9 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
It looks in good shape! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:49, 11 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! Ralf Richter (actor) doesn't, and I have no time ... --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:30, 15 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
I have two topics in today's OTD corner - check out story and music, I decided for Verdi (the conductor who said "I love all of Verdi" and conducted by heart) over Bach because that cantata sits on sort of the wrong date ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:18, 22 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Well done! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:27, 22 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! - Bach composed a cantata for today's feast, performed 300 years ago. This time the main page has it on the right date. I nominated it for GA ;) - Also waiting for a review: Maureen Jones, - someone said the article isn't good enough for the main page. We could change that! Already arrived there: Bryan Kelly and his fun Magnificat. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:40, 29 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

DYK A-Z

[edit]

Hello! I just saw your DYK A-Z country challenge and I'm interested in knowing more about it. Is there any way I could participate or help? I love stuff like this! Froglord (Finnfrog99) (talk) 17:17, 16 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thought I should link my DYK list Froglord (Finnfrog99) (talk) 17:19, 16 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Rosiestep and myself never finished it, but you're welcome to work on DYKs for the missing countries! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 07:44, 17 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
I've added Ireland (Irish War News, but I have plenty.), Kuwait (Saif al-Arab (play)), Palestine (Stop The Game), and Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha (Volcano Radio) Froglord (Finnfrog99) (talk) 12:45, 17 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Very nice work! If it motivates you, go for it! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:53, 17 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Fond memory working on this list with Dr. B. Maybe you have a partner that you enjoy working with, too, Finnfrog99? --Rosiestep (talk) 13:29, 17 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
We certainly found some very interesting topics to write about!! Nvvchar hasn't edited since September 2023. He would be late 80s by now I would guess, but I would imagine isn't with us anymore. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:36, 17 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
I usually just make articles by myself, but I have reached out to a few other people before to make new articles together before, though none of those have been finished yet. Froglord (Finnfrog99) (talk) 13:56, 17 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Have you heard anything from Char in the last few years Rosie? ♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:05, 24 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sadly, I haven't. I do wonder about him from time to time. Working together, the three of us, was such a happy time. Plus, of course, so rewarding; we created a lot of articles! --Rosiestep (talk) 13:22, 26 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Do either of you have any advice on how to find topics to create articles on for the smaller countries? I tried finding something for Trinidad and Tobago, but haven't found anything yet.
Finnfrog99, economy-related articles, e.g., Coffee production in [Foo], Silver mining in [Foo], etc. Also, articles about public universities and national parks and nationally-registered historic buildings. --Rosiestep (talk) 13:22, 26 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
I also added a list of currently missing countries to the bottom of the page Froglord (Finnfrog99) (talk) 11:38, 26 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Nice work! Yes, try to be culturally rich and diverse basically, that's what we did. Usually browsing some general articles, like on major cities and topic you'll find something interesting looking red linked. Rosiestep His Facebook page is still there but I don't use it so can't see if he's been active. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:22, 26 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
I'm inactive on FB so I can't see if he is active. --Rosiestep (talk) 17:17, 26 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Today's Main page (with three biographies I updated: John Bröcheler, Maureen Jones and Bryan Kelly) points at Carl Nielsen, an unusual FA with four nominators, and you were one of them, thank you! -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:34, 3 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

I missed this post due to the deletion messages! I remember it well! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:01, 9 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Women: today Irene Butter (don't miss the short video in her story and article), yesterday Tabea Zimmermann for her 60th (I was in the audience for that concert in 2023, long video), and some day Ileana Cotrubaș again, whose article became GA today. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:34, 9 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Herbst- und Weinfest

[edit]
Image

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Herbst- und Weinfest requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organized event (tour, function, meeting, party, etc.) that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Blofeld, I'm sure you are familiar with Proverbs 6, thou sluggard. Trivially easy to reference this. Pete AU aka Shirt58 (talk) 🦘 09:15, 11 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

A barnstar for you!

[edit]
Image The Destub Barnstar
Thank you for pioneering the Destubathon, creating the 50k Destubbing Challenge, and your endless dedication to expanding stub articles across Wikipedia! Your efforts have completely transformed the encyclopedia's depth. Pachu Kannan (talk) 17:22, 19 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you Pachu, greatly appreciated! It would be a 1 million article destubbing challenge if I could scale this, but we don't have the editors! Hope a lot of Indian content will be improved in November, it really needs it! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:49, 20 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
