Red links are to be avoided... Please do not create them by linking to non-existent articles unless you intend to create that article ASAP... GWFrog (talk) 13:44, 2 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

See: Wikipedia:Red link... GWFrog (talk) 13:46, 2 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
From the WP:REDYES you cited: "Creating a red link also carries the responsibility to first ascertain that the red link is a valid title of a page, and that its foreseeable new subject matter will meet the notability guidelines for topics covering: people (WP:BIO), web content (WP:WEB), businesses (WP:CORP), and more." Although David Korn will very likely, at some future time, become sufficiently notable to have his own article due to his becoming more than an interim head coach, Brian Jones will likely remain a largely unknown goalkeepers coach due mainly to his lack of a college education which is usually a requirement for attaining higher level coaching positions. He could well rise above the lack, but at this time, both coaches are insufficiently notable to deserve their own articles, otherwise, I probably would have created those articles myself at about the same time I created the navbox. Additionally, what might appear in Category:NCAA Division I FBS coach navigational boxes has no bearing on what might appear in a soccer coach navbox; apples are not oranges...GWFrog (talk) 14:37, 2 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
@GWFrog: The format for college coach navboxes does not change based on sport.Joeykai (talk) 14:40, 2 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
@GWFrog: Basically look at anything in Category:American college athletic coach navigational boxes. The format is consistent.Joeykai (talk) 14:43, 2 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
Your claim that "...they all use red links..." is patently bogus. Some do, the majority do not. Your statement that, "The format is consistent" holds true only in that most of those red links are from coaches who worked more than a few years ago, so that citing references to justify their notability proves difficult... Current coaches generally do not have red links because the references of their notability is abundantly available... GWFrog (talk) 15:15, 2 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
They all use either red links or are blue links. There are no unlinked coaches. The format is consistent.Joeykai (talk) 15:53, 2 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
Consistent does not equal correct. Thousands and thousands of consistently incorrect incidents is naught but thousands and thousands of wrong entries. Rather than adding additional wrong entries in order to be consistent, the right and proper action would be to remove the improper red links... GWFrog (talk) 15:56, 3 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Coding for American-style MDY dates

[edit]

Joey, "mf=y" coding should be used in all non-military articles that use American English; it means "month first dates = yes," i.e., standard format American-style dates such as January 1, 2015: . This is supposed to be part of the standard formatting for Template:Birth date and Template:Death data for every biographical article written in American English (with an exception for certain articles about the U.S. military because the military uses DMY dates), and the same infobox templates in bios written in British and Commonwealth English are supposed to be encoded with "df=y". Please do not remove this coding from the infoboxes of NFL players or any other American biographical subject. Thanks. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 03:05, 11 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Florida Agricultural College/University of Florida at Lake City

[edit]

Joey, I have reverted your recent additions to Template:Florida Gators football navbox. There were multiple problems with what you represented as the "history" of the University of Florida "Florida Gators" football team:

1. There was no continuity of legal existence between the old Florida Agricultural College/University of Florida at Lake City (1884–1905) and the modern University of Florida (1905-present);

2. The modern University of Florida had not one, but four predecessor institutions: (1) Florida Agricultural College/University of Florida at Lake City, (2) East Florida Seminary in Gainesville, (3) St. Petersburg Normal and Industrial School in St. Petersburg, and (4) Florida Military College Bartow;

3. The predecessor institution in Lake City was founded as the Florida Agricultural College in 1884, and was known as the "University of Florida" for its last two years of existence (1903–1905) -- from the 1880s until 1903, the West Florida Seminary, one of Florida State's predecessor institutions, was officially called the "University of Florida";

4. The Florida State Legislature passed the Buckman Act in 1905, which legally abolished the University of Florida's four predecessor institutions -- that is, they legally ceased to exist as corporate entities -- and the legislature created a new entity, the "University of the State of Florida, and endowed it with the assets of the four predecessors and consolidated their academic programs within the new entity's purview;

5. All existing faculty members, including the university president, were required to re-apply for their jobs in 1905;

6. The new university was a men-only institution, whereas the four predecessors were co-ed;

7. The new university recognized 1905 as its founding date until the 1930s, where president John Tigert and the state attorney general agreed to retroactively adopt EFS's 1853 opening as the new university's "founding" date;

8. The modern University of Florida was officially known as the "University of the State of Florida" from 1905 to 1909, when the name was officially shortened to the University of Florida;

9. The FAC/UFLC football team was never officially known as the "Blue and White", nor was EFS's football team ever officially known as the "Orange and Black";

10. The 1905 squad would have been the first varsity football team of the modern University of Florida, but president Andrew Sledd cancelled the 1905 season when several members of the team were declared academically eligible;

11. Adding to the confusion, the new university operated on the Lake City campus of FAC/UFLC during the 1905–06 school year, while the new Gainesville campus was being built, and moved its faculty and students to Gainesville in August of 1906;

12. The modern University of Florida and the University Athletic Association do not recognize the pre-1905 FAC/UFLC or EFS football teams as part of the Florida Gators football team's history or win-loss record -- the first officially recognized varsity football team of the modern university is/was the 1906 squad;

13. The new university's colors were orange and blue -- a combination of the blue and white of FAC/UFLC and the orange and black of EFS; and

14. The new university's first football coach was James Forsythe, the last football coach of Florida State College in 1904, and only one player from the last FAC/UFLC team in 1904 was a member of the new university's first football team in 1906.

In short, there was a major break from the prior history of the predecessor institutions and teams in 1905, when the new university came into being. The history is complicated, but the break point was the 1905 Buckman Act, which legally did away with the four predecessor institutions and created a new state university to take their places. In order to get a better understanding of the messy political, legal, corporate and academic history surrounding the modern University of Florida, you need to read the Andrew Sledd, Henry Holland Buckman and History of the University of Florida articles, as well as the history sections of the University of Florida and Florida Gators football articles. The key is understanding that modern University of Florida did not exist until the Florida state legislature legally abolished Florida Agricultural College/University of Florida at Lake City, East Florida Seminary in Gainesville, St. Petersburg Normal and Industrial School in St. Petersburg, and South Florida Military College Bartow, and consolidated their assets and academic programs in the new "University of the State of Florida" (the modern University of Florida) in 1905. The new University of the State of Florida was a legally separate and distinct animal from the old Florida Agricultural College in Lake City, which was known as the "University of Florida" for its last two years of existence. Because the modern university did not exist until 1905, the University Athletic Association does not recognize the win-loss records of the pre-1905 FAC/UFLC or EFS football teams; the other two predecessors did not have teams.

I hope this helps. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 16:00, 17 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi Joeykai. In this edit, your script made several fixes, but also two mistakes:

  • It changed "2000-cash notes" to "2000–cash notes" (the hyphen was right there).
  • It changed hyphens in an ISBN (in the |isbn= parameter of a citation template) to en-dashes.

Color module for college sports

[edit]

Joey, please provide a linked reference on the module talk page for this change: . Because of past vandalism and edit-warring over changes to college sports team colors, all changes and additions to the color module must be documented. As a temporary solution, we are adding linked sources for all such changes to the module talk page, so that the changes and additions may be easily confirmed by other editors. In the near future, those linked sources will be added directly to the module for quick and easy confirmation. Your cooperation and assistance are appreciated. Thanks. Joey, as previously requested above on November 9, 2015, please provide your reliable sources for any changes or additions to the college colors module on the module talk page. Everyone else is complying, and you are not any more or less special than every other sports editor making contributions to the module. We have a history of people making unsourced changes to our college team colors and creating problems as a result -- please do not be a part of that problem. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 02:38, 23 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Dirtlawyer1: I have not changed colors, I've just added colors that were not there. For this edit I took the colors already in Template:Southern Jaguars football navbox and added them to the module because there had previously been no Southern U colors in the module. Reverting this edit goes back to having NO colors for Southern rather than having possibly slightly wrong colors that were already in wide use across various Southern Jaguars wikipedia pages and templates.Joeykai (talk) 02:43, 23 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Joey, try searching South Alabama Jaguars brand identity, University of South Alabama brand identity, South Alabama Jaguars hex colors, and University of South Alabama hex colors using Google. The overwhelming majority of major American universities now post their official Hex and/or Pantone colors on their websites in order to present a consistent image and trademarks to the public, and to control third-party sports marketing of their teams. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 02:51, 23 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Dirtlawyer1: its was the Southern University Jaguars, not South Alabama, which already has colors in the module.Joeykai (talk) 02:55, 23 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Joey, change the university and team names, and the same point still applies. The Southern University/team colors need to be sourced. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 03:03, 23 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Dirtlawyer1 and Joeykai: Guys, I don't know who's right or wrong here, and frankly, I don't care, but somebody needs to go back and fix this. Charleston Southern's colors are most definitely not black and gray. Ejgreen77 (talk) 23:31, 23 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Colors

[edit]

Joey, the colors you're changing to are no longer the actual colors the schools use. If the policy is the official colors don't offer enough contrast, then we should be taking the colors out completely, not changing them to something that the schools don't actually use. Either way, the new scheme on Military Classic of the South looks atrocious. Billcasey905 (talk) 21:23, 21 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Also, moving to compact removes an alternative way to understand what the color expresses. Please reconsider. Billcasey905 (talk) 21:25, 21 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Definition of Youth soccer

[edit]

I would say youth football is under-18/schoolboy/schoolgirl while college soccer is 18 to 21 and should be regarded as senior especially in the USA or Ireland. Campbell and Connolly are both senior Republic of Ireland internationals so how can their club teams be listed as youth teams. Campbell had a senior career playing at national league, Champions League and senior international level, before playing college soccer, yet you placed college career in youth years chronologically before her senior career, this makes no sense to me and is misleading. Djln Djln (talk) 21:13, 24 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Djln: look at the infoboxes of say, Alex Morgan, Abby Wambach, Clint Dempsey, Mia Hamm, basically literally any other soccer player; college soccer belongs in the youth section. Joeykai (talk) 22:03, 24 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • I disagree. It may make sense in these particular articles but not in every article. There is no rule written in stone we have to follow like sheep. As I said above, Campbell played national league, Champions League and senior international level, before playing college soccer. It makes no chronological sense ? Youth football and college soccer are not even the same age groups Djln Djln (talk) 22:14, 24 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on William Eyang, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Pittsburgh Pirates colors

[edit]

Hello, Joeykai (talk), I am writing this message because of the changes you made at Module:Baseball color/data. Specifically, the second color for the Pittsburgh Pirates should be  white , not  gold . This is because the other related Pirates' templates use  white  as the secondary color, not  gold . I only undid your edit in order to ensure consistency through WP's Pirates' articles/templates. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 20:50, 15 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

then change all the other templates to gold. Gold is the correct color and Black and Gold are compliant. We've been over this before. Joeykai (talk) 20:59, 15 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Joeykai: Gold may be the second color used by the Pittsburgh Pirates; however, for formatting purposes, the second color listed for the Pirates at Module:Baseball color/data should be  white . Please discuss at the module's talk page before reverting again. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 21:35, 17 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Joeykai: I noticed your edit made at Module:Baseball color/data. Please STOP reverting that edit until consensus is reached. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 01:36, 18 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
the Pirates' colors are black and gold. Represent the correct colors for the team (black and gold) or incorrect colors for the team (what you want, for some reason)? It's not a hard choice. Joeykai (talk) 03:24, 18 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Joeykai: Would you be amenable to having the colors for the Pittsburgh Pirates look like this?: 1.  #FDB827 , 2.  #000000 , 3.  #000000 , 4.  #FFFFFF  Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 20:11, 3 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Any chance you could write a bit more in your deletion discussions. Just saying they fail NHOCKEY is causing a lot of issues. Abbreviating touchdown in infobox

[edit]

Hey, I was just curious for your rationale of abbreviating "touchdown" as "TD" in the infobox, like here. I see it often, and you may not be the only one who does it (I only checked for this one occurrence) but in most cases abbreviating it as opposed to typing it out doesn't save any line space. Speedy deletion nomination of Mattias Elfström

[edit]

Hello Joeykai,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Mattias Elfström for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

Hello, Joeykai. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Yegor Rykov, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. If you don't want Yegor Rykov to be deleted, please add a reference to the article.

Careful With That Axe!

[edit]

I see you sometimes use a script to change various spellings based on which country’s conventions make sense. Unfortunately, it’s casting too wide a net. A lot of the words changed (e.g. ‘color’, ‘center’) are part of HTML markup or Wikicode, and have to be spelled that way. The software won’t work if the word isn’t spelled as in the definition (which is usually the American way). I don’t know if the script you use can ignore things in code or quotations. Maybe it can be run in a no-edit mode, so it can identify words that should be changed, and you can use a manual search and replace to change only the instances that are appropriate. Why would you change it?

[edit]

I have been doing this in the same format for several years, and you are suddenly making changes without giving any reason for the changes. Do you have a valid reason for the changes, or are you just changing it to the way you would have done it, if you had done it in the first place???.. GWFrog (talk) 05:20, 5 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure if you're familiar with Template:Goal, but the changes I made are the way penalty kicks and assists are typically indicated. Joeykai (talk) 05:26, 5 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
In point of fact, Template:Goal gives absolutely zero guidance on how to typically indicate assists, and the only guidance for PKs is to include "|pen." inside the bracket, which adds a "pen." notation... I have been doing it in a manner that I thought was clear and easily understood, and I see no real reason for your making the changes... GWFrog (talk) 06:06, 5 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

All you had to do was note that in the edit summary when you made the first edit. But, no, you were too busy making edits to explain why the edit was made, then seemed to be trying to start some kind of confrontation over a very minor point, when we should be working toward the same goal... GWFrog (talk) 06:47, 5 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

The same goes for Alphonso Davies. Yes, he was born in Liberia, but WP:FOOTY rules are that if he represents a nation at the international level he should be considered of that nation. The fact that he has never represented Liberia internationally somewhat precludes him being a Liberian footballer. That he has represented Canada without holding Canadian nationality is not germane to the discussion. In short, he's not a Liberian Footballer, but if you take the discussion to WP:FOOTY, I will go along with their consensus on the topic. Walter Görlitz (talk) 07:02, 3 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

He can be listed in both categories (Liberian footballers and Canadian soccer players). For anything that cannot reasonably use two nationalities, then go with Canada, I am in agreement. But for categories, he can be listed under both. Joeykai (talk) 07:05, 3 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Category Renaming

[edit]

Be careful with renaming ice hockey player categories. Ice hockey players are categorized based on the name of the team during the time they played on the team. So in atleast two cases that I fixed today many of the articles had to have their categories switched back to the original one. If you are trying to put players in a new name of the team just create a new category for a new name and then only put the players who have played since the name changed in that category. -DJSasso (talk) 14:56, 14 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Template:2006 UC Santa Barbara Gauchos men's soccer navbox

[edit]

Joeykai, I noticed your recent edit to 2006 UC Santa Barbara Gauchos men's soccer navbox with the following note added:

"The only criteria for inclusion in this navbox is the existence of a player or coach's page on Wikipedia. If other players or coaches from this team have Wikipedia pages, they should be included in this navbox. It is not the intention of this navbox to include the entire team roster, as college athletes do not automatically meet Wikipedia's notability requirements, unlike professional athletes."

As someone who doesn't deal a ton in the Navbox space like yourself, I was interested to learn from you the reasoning as to such a statement. Can you point me to where this resides on Wikipedia, either as MOS or consensus elsewhere? I can't seem to find it when I've looked. Thanks in advance for pointing me in the right direction! GauchoDude (talk) 15:36, 18 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

The statement is included in the vast majority of templates in Category:American college sports championship team navigational boxes, especially the football ones, which are the oldest and most used. Joeykai (talk) 17:13, 18 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the response. After doing more digging, I was able to come across NAVBOX, which doesn't shed a ton of light on this topic. There is also an unofficial essay, EXISTING, which proposes that the articles must be existing in bullet point 2, which is much more relevant. I don't think that's the ultimate golden rule, as it is an essay after all, but I thought I'd share with you if you hadn't come across those previously. Player stat tables

[edit]

The Canadian spelling of centre does not work in the stat tables. You didn't change the spelling for "style="text-align:center" but if you were to do so it wouldn't work. If you removed that line of code, leaving just the instances of "ALIGN="centre", that wouldn't work either. --Parkfly20 (talk) 11:48, 15 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Women's Football / Soccer Task Force News: August 2017

Should the women's football task force become WikiProject: WOSO?

Image

According to an op-ed in the recent Signpost, some editors think task forces and subgroups are dying in 2017.

What do you think about forming our own WikiProject separate from WP:FOOTY? There's an on-going discussion of the potential pros and cons on the task force talk page. Input is welcome.

Recent developments

New initiatives have been created for:

  • FA WSL (England's top-division league)
  • NCAA (American university teams, conferences, etc.)
  • W-League (Australia's top-division league)
Ongoing tournaments
Current and upcoming seasons for top-division leagues
Did you know?

While WP:FPL lists only two women's top-division leagues as notable due to its "fully professional" criteria, did you know you can create an article on any player in any league as long as the references meet WP:GNG guidelines? Make sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}.

Have some new articles in mind or see some that need improvement? Add them to the Open Tasks page if you'd like and other editors may be able to help. Need tips, assistance, or resources from other WOSO editors? Leave a message on the task force talk page.

Thank you for your continued contributions to articles related to women's football / soccer (WOSO)!

There's a consensus to only list teams from the highest level of a country that the player played at. Reichard has played for 2 AHL teams (Houston, Iowa) and 7 ECHL teams and only the AHL teams should be listed. Joeykai (talk) 06:59, 12 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

[edit]

Hello! I am coming to you because I saw you also edited on Josh Bailey's article and seem to be a well knowing and established editor. I am having an issue with an IP user on the Josh Bailey article. They keep on adding Elite Right Winger to the article despite me telling them on their talk page it doesn't follow a Neutral POV. I pointed out that other players who are considered Elite, like Crosby, do not have "Elite Centre" written on their page in that section but they ignore me. They claim the NHL announced it but I cannot find a source. I have already reverted it 3 times and left them a message. This also seems to be their only contribution to Wikipedia.

I was wondering if you had any further suggestions.

Hi Joey, just wondered why you removed the prod here. Doe you think the player meets NFOOTY? No problem if you think that it does but do you have a reference to confirm? In it's current state there's nothing to support notability. Thanks, Fenix down (talk) 08:29, 6 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, that must've been a mistake, I hadn't realized I removed the PROD on that article. Joeykai (talk) 08:31, 6 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
No problem. The article creator seems to have created over 100 articles on players in this league, almost all of whom seem non notable to me. Some of them had the national team in the info box but no claim to actual caps nor any reference to support the fact that they had actually played. Feel free to revert any prods I made that you think they are notable, I see you already spotted one. Fenix down (talk) 08:43, 6 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Antoine Laganière

[edit]
Image

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Antoine Laganière requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hello WOSO editors! A few initiatives have been started with an emphasis on making more WOSO links blue (similar to the work that WikiProject Women in Red does) and filling in the gaps within various league, team, and player, etc. articles.

If you're interested in collaborating with others to make more links blue, take a look at the initiatives listed in the box below. Sign up at the bottom of an initiative page and help grow the lists, add potential references, resources, and create the articles ... or create your own initiative.

Did you know ...

WP:GNG takes precedence over WP:NFOOTY (which only includes the players in 1 active women's league)? Often times there is enough media coverage that meets WP:GNG or other notability guidelines. For more information, see WP:WOSO#Notability and be sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}

Current and upcoming seasons for top-division leagues

Has an article you worked on been nominated for deletion? See:

Hello! I saw your underlinked tag on Talia Chetrit and fixed it. In cases like this, where the article is only a few sentences long, I think it might be more productive to the encyclopedia as a whole to just link two or three things, rather than leave a tag. Speedy deletion nomination of Eric Cornel

[edit]
Image

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Eric Cornel requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Orphaned article tagging via AWB

[edit]

Hi there! Noted you had tagged a fair bit of articles as orphans using AWB. I noted that some of the tagged articles are not orphans as per current definition. The new definition is that an orphaned article is an article with no incoming links instead of the old minimum 3 incoming links, see WP:ORPHAN. AWB default setting for orphans might have been set as 3 incoming links. I believe you can set it to one! Thanks! --Xaiver0510 (talk) 08:19, 23 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Appreciate if you can run AWB and de-orphaned those wrongly tagged orphan articles. Thanks --Xaiver0510 (talk) 02:13, 24 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
Is there a way to do that with AWB? Joeykai (talk) 03:54, 24 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
I believe so. Perhaps re-running the same list again with AWB with the correct orphan settings will de-orphan it automatically --Xaiver0510 (talk) 04:49, 24 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Opening ceremony of the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup, Parc de Princes, Paris, June 7, 2019

Hello WOSO editors! What a 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France! There has been a lot of activity on tournament- and player-related Wikipedia articles with all of the worldwide coverage of the tournament and its players. Let's keep the momentum going.

WOMEN IN SPORTS EDIT-A-THON FOR JULY + AUGUST!

WikiProject Women in Red is focusing on Women in Sports during their edit-a-thon for July & August 2019.

Get all the info here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Meetup/126

Sign up and help fill in the gaps within various articles related to women's football / soccer - whether they be players, teams, leagues, historical, administrators, referees, etc. Every little bit helps. Be sure to tag your article talk pages with {{WIR-126}}.

These edit-a-thons are a great way to work with others to help bridge the gender gaps on Wikipedia. Thanks for your contributions!

Did you know...

WP:GNG takes precedence over WP:NFOOTY (which only includes the players in two currently active women's leagues)? Often times there is enough media coverage that meets WP:GNG or other notability guidelines. For more information, see WP:WOSO#Notability and be sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}

Current and upcoming seasons for top-division leagues

Have some new articles in mind or see some that need improvement? Add them to the Open Tasks.

Was an article you worked on nominated for deletion? See:

Want some tips, assistance, or resources from other WOSO editors?
Leave a message on the task force talk page.

Thank you for your continued contributions to articles related to women's football / soccer (WOSO)!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Adam Fox requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Kirill Kozhevnikov (sailor) moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you created, Kirill Kozhevnikov (sailor), does not have enough content, sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more content, and citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

[edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Stubs

[edit]

A list of species doesn't add encyclopedic information to an article about a genus (paper encyclopedias don't, in my experience, contain such lists in articles about genera). Whether a genus article is a stub or not has to be decided based on the text that tells the reader something about the genus. Sometimes there's a fine line between a Stub and a Start, I agree. "clean up" edits

[edit]

Hi Joey. Why would you add orphan tags to articles that are not orphans? Plus this edit literally does nothing. Pelmeen10 (talk) 03:10, 3 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

This edit and this edit were also cosmetic edits performed with AWB, in violation of AWB's rules of use. I only looked at about ten of your AWB edits, so I am sure there were more. Please be more careful. – Jonesey95 (talk) 03:22, 3 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi, your AWB settings might be set to the old requirements of articles needing at least 3 links to be considered non-orphan. The new updated definition requires an article to just have a single incoming link to be considered non-orphan. Appreciate if you can update the settings in AWB. Thanks! --Justanothersgwikieditor (talk) 03:02, 5 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Second request: This edit and this edit and this edit and this edit appear to be purely cosmetic edits performed with AWB, in violation of AWB rule 4: Do not make insignificant or inconsequential edits. Please stop making this type of edit with AWB. – Jonesey95 (talk) 03:24, 5 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

I am seeing many stubs on college football teams that have been tagged as underlinked that really do not qualify for that designation. Chelsea striker Bethany England scoring the winning goal in the team's 2-1 win against Arsenal at the 2019–20 FA Women's League Cup, February 29, 2020.

Hello WOSO editors!

What a year to be alive. As usual (but perhaps even moreso since there have been unexpected quarantines), there has been a lot of activity on player, team, league and tournament-related Wikipedia articles with all of the worldwide coverage of women's football / soccer. Great work!

Fall Focus: FA WSL articles

You may have noticed lots of great things going on for the top English league this year: the FA WSL. More (international!) broadcasts, top international player signings, improved media coverage, and increased viewership. Let's keep the momentum brewing, shall we?

Here's a sampling of articles that could use creation, expansion or updating. What will you commit to working on?

Historical Topics
Managers
Teams
Players
Other

See also Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Women's football task force/Initiatives/FA WSL to collaborate and organize with other editors.

Every little bit helps! Thanks for your contributions!

Did you know...

WP:GNG takes precedence over WP:NFOOTY (which only includes the players in two currently active women's leagues)? Often times there is enough media coverage that meets WP:GNG or other notability guidelines. For more information, see WP:WOSO#Notability and be sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}

Current and upcoming seasons for top-division leagues

Thank you for your continued contributions to articles related to women's football / soccer (WOSO)!

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Curaçao football biography stubs

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Placement of templates

[edit]

Hello, Joeykai. I've noticed you making some edits like this one at Bhutan women's national football team, which you label "clean up". In that edit, you swapped the {{About}} and {{short description}} templates, which I believe to be an error. Please have a look at MOS:ORDER. We should be placing {{Short description}} as the very first template (except on a redirect, exceptionally, per WP:SDPLACE).

I don't know what the effects of "incorrect" placement are, so I can't say you definitely should revert all of your changes of this kind, but at least you should avoid doing such swapping in the future. Happy editing, — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 07:20, 18 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username CollectiveSolidarity, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Stine Larsen, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|CollectiveSolidarity}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

Speedy deletion nomination of Sun Wen (disambiguation)

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Sun Wen (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

Proposed deletion of Kenny Pickett (disambiguation)

[edit]
Notice

The article Kenny Pickett (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

After move of Kenny Pickett (American football) to base title Kenny Pickett, this is an unnecessary WP:ONEOTHER DAB page.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 10:14, 10 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Kenny McIntosh (disambiguation)

[edit]
Image

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Kenny McIntosh (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Your submission at Articles for creation: Nicole Woods (basketball) (May 24)

[edit]
Image
Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reasons left by Greenman were:
This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources. Reliable sources are required so that information can be verified. If you need help with referencing, please see Referencing for beginners and Citing sources.
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
 The comment the reviewer left was:
No improvement since being moved from mainspace.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

FIFA Women's Ranking

[edit]

Hi, did something change with the historical rankings? Nehme1499 11:06, 29 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Nehme1499: A lot of pages had incorrect Highest or Lowest rankings, by included times where teams were actually not ranked at all. For example, both Malaysia and Philippines were listed with a low of 133 in September 2011, but per FIFA only 132 teams were ranked in Sep 2011; during this time neither Malaysia nor Philippines were actually ranked at all, as both teams were removed from the ranking due to not having played any matches for the previous 18 months. Joeykai (talk) 11:14, 29 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
It seems like something changed with FIFA's website. If you take a look at the 2019 Lebanon profile, Lebanon's highest ranking was 92 in 2009. However, the rankings page in 2019 doesn't include Lebanon. I guess "92" was just a number they put for all unranked teams, as there were actually 91 ranked teams. Thanks for the fix. Nehme1499 11:30, 29 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
How did you make sure that Lebanon's best ranking was in December 2013? FIFA messed up the code pre-2019 and used "lib" instead of "lbn", meaning that the Lebanon FIFA profile shows 135 in December 2019 as the highest ranking, despite the December 2013 ranking showing Lebanon in 102. Be bold and move if need be

[edit]

Hi, Joeykai! I've checked through your recent move requests and have so far found them to be more easier than I thought. In case you've forgotten or haven't noticed, you can move/rename articles yourself to a name provided it fulfils WP:NAMECHANGES without resorting to either using RMs or WP:RMTR, as you've been here on WP for a while. To rename/move pages, click "Tools" at the right side of the article/page in question, click "Move" (appears based on page protection status), change the current title to the title of preference or choice, add a reason for this and then, click "Move page". Once a red error box appears on the next screen, then you can resort to using the methods above. Please don't see this as a deterrence to continue using them, but see this as, going foward, a more easier alternative than to wait a week or a fortnight to move pages/articles to redlinked unused names when they could be moved yourself — unless the prefered title(s) is/are blue/hyperlinked or already taken. Thanks! Intrisit (talk) 14:32, 23 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Holding midfielder re Keira Walsh

[edit]

When I looked at the players article itself I always thought that holding midfielders are referred to as number 4 where 6 would be one of the two central defenders based on the Squad_number_(association_football)#United_Kingdom 4-4-2 formation. But I then checked the source which simply meant the second revert was correct. I now realise different countries used different number formats and of course with today, professionals stick with the same number for a certain length of time. Your submission at Articles for creation: Karyn Hall (December 11)

[edit]
Image
Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Spinster300 was:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

Updating caps

[edit]

Hi Joeykai. I see you've been updating plenty of women footballer article. Thank you!

When updating statistics within the infobox of a footballer, please make sure you update the timestamp at the same time, so that both readers and fellow editors know when the information was last updated.

You can do this by replacing the existing timestamp within the |club-update= or |pcupdate= parameter for club stats, or the |nationalteam-update= or |ntupdate= parameter for international stats. For articles that use a DMY date format, use five tildes (~~~~~), or for MDY dates, use {{subst:mdytime}}. This will generate the specific time the update was made.

In the future it would be helpful to mention what source you're switching to in an edit like that vs something that's purely updating the number of appearances & goals that's more easily available.

AFDs

[edit]

Hello, Joeykai,

If you are going to continue to nominate articles at AFD, you have to provide a more comprehensive and persuasive deletion rationale than "Fails GNG". Have you read and analyzed the article, assessed the sources, looked for additional sources, considered alternatives to deletion as required by WP:BEFORE? Have you gone through all of the necessary checks that are asked of editors to do before nominating an article?

Assuming that you have, your deletion rationale should include this kind of information. One word rationales just aren't enough. You can't expect participants in an AFD discussion to do more work than you did to put together the nomination. Because right now, it looks like you are just randomly tagging articles and using the same deletion rationale, "Fails GNG", on all of them. Please take the process seriously, do the legwork and demonstrate that you have in your deletion rationale. You are a very experienced editor this shouldn't be news to you so just take this as a reminder. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 06:20, 31 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). Speedy deletion nomination of Travis Hunter (disambiguation)

[edit]
Image

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Travis Hunter (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 09:24, 11 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Do not remove WTA and ITF templates from tennis articles

[edit]

Please do not remove the templates WTA and ITF from tennis articles and replace them with "Sports Links" template. The template has no approval from WikiProject Tennis. The website Tennis Abstract was never discussed to be added to every single player bio and I don't think it ever will. Thanks. Fyunck(click) (talk) 18:58, 27 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Fyunck(click):, thank you for letting me know. I don't want to add any external links that WikiProject Tennis disapproves of. I am changing any "Sports Links" templates I added to {{sports links|properties=-P10028}}, which removes the tennis abstract link. See this edit as an example. Joeykai (talk) 03:39, 28 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
There may be others that need to get removed. To be honest I wouldn't change any more tennis articles until we get some proper Tennis Project people to tell us what should and should not be used. Who the heck approved what was added to the list because tennis archives needs to go also... and maybe a few others. I see that WikiProject Gymnastics has banned the template's use and it's possible Project Tennis will do the same. Fyunck(click) (talk) 03:59, 28 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
Please see here to see articles that link tennis abstract. I am in the process of removing the ones I added. Joeykai (talk) 04:00, 28 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
What it would need is only the basics. WTA/ATP/ITF/Olympics/DavisCaup/BillieJeanKingsCup. That's probably it. Then, if someone wants to add more they would need to use parameters with plus(+) not remove something with a minus(-). That becomes too much of a mess for new editors. They understood {{WTA}}, {{ITF}}, {{FedCup}} just fine. Many will be clueless what {{sports links|properties=-P10028}} means since it's not intuitive and is actually harder to remember. Fyunck(click) (talk) 04:07, 28 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
I take your point, I'll stop making changes for now, let's continue the discussion at Template talk:Sports links#Tennis Abstract? to get the incorrect links blocked from "Sports Links" Joeykai (talk) 04:11, 28 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Question

[edit]

In regards to this edit, do you why Dominique Dafney is listed as a starting QB? I'm not questioning it, I'm just genuinely curious how that may have happened. I couldn't locate any sources. Did he just take the snap from the wildcat position for the first play or something? ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 04:43, 1 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Yes he played from the wildcat Joeykai (talk) 04:55, 1 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Article assessment requests - another option

[edit]

Greetings Joeykai - In addition to making an article assessment request at WikiProject Wikipedia/Assessment, another option is available at the article's Talk page. Blanking the class parameter like WikiProject banner shell|class=|, causes an "automatic" assessment request by including the article at Category:Unassessed articles, with sub-category entries for the various WikiProjects. There is an on-going discussion of this topic at Site-wide assessment page. Cheers, JoeNMLC (talk) 23:35, 7 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Assessment of Felipe Vázquez article

[edit]

Hi Joeykai, I did not understand why you removed the "Start" class assessment from the Felipe Vázquez article because you did not explain your edit. (You appear to omit explaining a lot of your edits.) Rather than revert your edit an issue a user warning for failing to provide an edit summary, I have been bold and reassessed the article as "C" class. In the future, if you disagree with a "Start" class article assessment you are allowed to be bold and change it up or down a notch. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 23:06, 20 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Cameron Dewe:, I was told here that blanking the class parameter was an alternative to listing an article at WikiProject Wikipedia/Assessment. I didn't necessarily disagree with the start assessment; I wanted the article re-assessed. I'll leave an edit summary in future scenarios like this. Joeykai (talk) 23:25, 20 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that might get an article reassessed, but only if an editor is watching the assessment categories for the WikiProjects concerned. I am currently dealing with a backlog of assessments that haven't been touched since 2007, so if you are happy to wait a few years to have an article reassessed, you can adopt that method. Though it would seem problematic to me, because you are replacing what may be a poor assessment with a worse one, of unassessed, with no guarantees of a timely re-assessment. In my opinion, if you think the article needs reassessment, it probably does, so simply reassess it, if anyone disagrees with your assessment then your change will be reverted, if not, then the new assessment will stand. Saves all the waiting around for somebody else to decide to do something, which they might not decide to do. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 23:43, 20 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Assessment

[edit]

Hi, where are you getting all these athlete articles that you’ve requested assessment for from? If there’s a backlog somewhere perhaps I could take a stab at it. (Also you might want to consider talk page archiving). Cheers, GoldRomean (talk) 17:47, 28 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

I edit many sports articles, and whenever I come across an article that seems too large to be a stub, I'll usually change the rating to Start myself. If I come across an article that seems too large to be Start, those are the ones I usually put on the request for assessment page. IMO, the line between stub/start is much clearer than the line between start/C or C/B, so I don't usually like to change the rating myself in those cases. Joeykai (talk) 18:30, 28 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
Makes sense, thanks! GoldRomean (talk) 19:38, 28 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hi Joeykai and @GoldRomean, For an article that was Stub & is now improved, here is what helps me choose new status. With Rater assessment tool, if I shows "Start" I usually pick Start; if Rater has "C" I still choose "Start"; and if "B" I assess as "C" instead; i.e. one level lower. Because I am working through Category:Unassessed articles in addition to Unreferenced articles, (thousands backlog of both) I figure my assessment can be easily changed if anyone disagrees.
Also, there is a "Page size" tool (Gadgets) that I use with Wikipedia:Database reports/Long stubs articles. If an article has less than 250 prose words, it remains a stub. Cheers! JoeNMLC (talk) 15:44, 4 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Jaime French (disambiguation)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jaime French (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is:

  • a disambiguation page with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" which lists only one extant Wikipedia page (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • a disambiguation page that lists zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • a redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" whose target is neither a disambiguation page nor page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. – robertsky (talk) 09:43, 14 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Avery Hayes moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to Avery Hayes. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing as a live article at this time because it has no sources. I have converted it to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Padgriffin (Squawk) 12:42, 6 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

DYK for Jo-Jo Townsell

[edit]
Image

On 23 February 2026, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Jo-Jo Townsell, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Jo-Jo Townsell caught the game-winning touchdown in his professional debut, only two days after signing a contract with his team? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Jo-Jo Townsell. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Jo-Jo Townsell), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to nominate it.

The article Jacob Gonzalez (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:ONEOTHER; shortstop is primary due to RM

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Hungary women's national football team

[edit]

Greetings @Joeykai, Thank you for all the contributions that you have made to the above page. Please remember to sort the Current squad section correctly. The sort parameters can be seen when you are in edit mode. It actually makes more sense to maintain the player numbers whenevern there is a new call-up. This helps to identify new additions to the squad and hastens the edit process. Also, you may want to consider cleaning up your talk page by deleteing obsolete topics. If you have any questions on what I have written, please do not hesitate to reach out to me for clarification. Cheers, Rklingmann (talk) 23:42, 1 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Categories

[edit]

Please note that things do not automatically get their own eponymous categories just to contain themselves and nothing else, per WP:OCEPON. Category:2026 NCAA Division I women's soccer season is not a category that needs to exist so long as the only page in it is 2026 NCAA Division I women's soccer season — there would have to be several other pages to file there besides the eponym before the category is justified, and the eponym alone is not enough to support a category all by itself. Your account has been granted the "templateeditor" user permission, allowing you to edit templates and modules that have been protected with template protection. It also allows you to bypass the title blacklist, giving you the ability to create and edit editnotices. Before you use this user right, please read Wikipedia:Template editor and make sure you understand its contents. In particular, you should read the section on wise template editing and the criteria for revocation.

You can use this user right to perform maintenance, answer edit requests, and make any other simple and generally uncontroversial edits to templates, modules, and editnotices. You can also use it to enact more complex or controversial edits, after those edits are first made to a test sandbox, and their technical reliability as well as their consensus among other informed editors has been established. If you are willing to process edit requests on templates and modules, keep in mind that you are taking responsibility to ensure the edits have consensus and are technically sound.

This user right gives you access to some of Wikipedia's most important templates and modules; it is critical that you edit them wisely and that you only make edits that are backed up by consensus. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password.

If you were granted the permission on a temporary basis, you will need to reapply for the permission a few days before it expires.
