Always precious
[edit]Ten years ago, you were found precious. That's what you are, always. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:54, 28 May 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you Gerda. This year your message has coincided with a very late start to real spring weather, so I have at least two reasons to be smiling. -- Mirokado (talk) 21:06, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
Article length bar
[edit]Hi, Mirokado. I'm writing to tell you about new template {{Article length bar}} ({{Albar}}โ). I found you because of your earlier use of the template {{Article length rating}} (alias {{Alr}}). I had an application which also needed a graphic for article length, but I found Alr opaque in its symbology, and also it tops out at 20kb, which I think of as start-class, or just past stub; that is way too early for my purpose. My use case is more about checking whether an article is getting close to being too big and approaching the threshold for splitting, or already exceeding it, while Alr appears to be better for measuring stubs. Anyway, don't know if you stopped using Alr because you no longer had a need for it, or you gave up on it because it didn't really work for you, either.
The new {{Albar}} is very configurable, you can use it in default mode to get {{Albar|Jean Sibelius}} โ , for example. Here's France , Germany , and Italy rendered as sparklines. Lots more configurability, and if you still have a need for a graphic length symbol, I'd love to see your applications for it. It's still new, and I'm still thinking of other enhancements (including a prose-words mode: long-term, and not simple) and if you have any wish-list items for it, please add them to the template talk page. Cheers, Mathglot (talk) 06:46, 15 March 2024 (UTC)
Hi
[edit]I happened to wander onto your talk page just now, and figured I'd say hi. Still remember with fondness our work together on PG. EEng 20:18, 7 June 2025 (UTC)
- And hello to you, EEng. I also enjoyed our work together. I've been "a bit" less active recently but I hope to get back to editing more. I've been thinking about you recently, since Harvard has been in the news for reasons several stages beyond stupid. -- Mirokado (talk) 21:28, 12 June 2025 (UTC)

Thank you for your contributions to Carl Nielsen, remembered on the main page! My story on the Germany National holiday is a song calling to trust the new ways, written shortly before the events leading to reunification. I saw a lovely Mozart opera production yesterday, in case of interest. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:04, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
Happy 50th birthday, Alain Altinoglu!) - I let the video begin with a closeup of the octobass ;) Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:57, 9 October 2025 (UTC)

Today's Main page (with three biographies I updated: John Brรถcheler, Maureen Jones and Bryan Kelly) points at Carl Nielsen, an unusual FA with four nominators, and you were one of them, thank you! -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:34, 3 October 2026 (UTC)
- Hello Gerda and thanks for the note about Carl Nielsen. I certainly could not have nominated him on my own! Those are three nice articles. -- Mirokado (talk) 00:24, 4 October 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you! Articles also not "on my own", I began only the baritone, - the pianist was a delightful collaboration as should be, and the result translated into Spanish! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:04, 4 October 2026 (UTC)
- Women: today Irene Butter (don't miss the short video in her story and article), yesterday Tabea Zimmermann for her 60th (I was in the audience for that concert in 2023, long video), and some day Ileana Cotrubaศ again, whose article became GA today. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:55, 9 October 2026 (UTC)
