Each year, 12 million girls are married before the age of 18. One girl every three seconds, according to United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Child marriage is a violation of human rights and can have lasting consequences for girls’ health, education, safety, and future. It can also increase their exposure to physical or sexual intimate partner violence. Preventing child marriage and protecting girls’ rights are essential to ensuring that they can grow, learn, and shape their own futures. Ending child marriage is also a critical step toward ending violence against girls and women. Worldwide, one in three women will experience violence in her lifetime. Violence affects all cultures and social classes. Since 2008, Kering Foundation has been working toward a world free from gender-based violence, where women and children can live safely, thrive, and reach their full potential. The Foundation supports local organizations that offer quality services to women survivors and children victims of abuse, and who work to prevent violence. It also engages Kering’s ecosystem to create safe and supportive workplaces for survivors. Finally, the Foundation influences new audiences to raise awareness and critical additional funds to end violence against women and children. In 2019, Kering Foundation began supporting programs that address the origins of gender-based violence, to break the cycle of abuse that is passed down from generation to generation. To maximize its impact, Kering Foundation works with a limited number of partners in six countries: the United States, France, Italy, Mexico, the United Kingdom and Korea. Over the past 15 years, Kering Foundation has supported 1 million women survivors and partnered with 100 nonprofit organizations.

Back from the Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI) Forum in Bangkok, an incredibly inspiring and enriching 2026 edition with over 1,600 participants from 123 countries! The program was a perfect mix of research, practice, activism, policy and lived experience from the field of Gender-Based Violence and Violence Against Children: 680 presentations, workshops, participant-led events, and… connections! I enjoyed learning and sharing through different perspectives, geographies and disciplines as well as listening to some of our partners' presentations Ji-yeon Lee Soma Sara MBE Cindy Southworth Steina Bjorgvinsdottir @Don cipriani It was also the first time our partners at McGill University and SVRI could meet in person around Kering Foundation Research Program that aims at strengthening evidence-based, locally led research to understand how violence against women and children intersects and to identify effective solutions through programs, services, and interventions. Domestic violence has long-term impact on women’s health. Based on health data from more than 90,000 women in the US, a study by American Heart Association found that survivors of domestic violence face an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease, as well as a higher risk of all-cause mortality. Raising awareness on these often less visible impacts is essential to better understand, prevent and address the full consequences of violence against women. #KeringFoundation #WomensHealth #DontMissABeat

Domestic violence extends far beyond physical harm. Its consequences may affect women’s mental health, children’s development, and many aspects of survivors’ lives. Yet misconceptions surrounding domestic violence persist and can obscure the realities faced by women and children. Understanding these realities is essential to challenging harmful assumptions, raising awareness, and fostering a more informed response to violence against women. By confronting myths with facts, we can contribute to a better understanding of domestic violence and its lasting impact. #KeringFoundation #EndViolenceAgainstWomen #DomesticViolence #WomensRights
