Construction Industry Federation Summits

"Standing still at the moment is actually moving backwards...The data needs to be right and for a long time I hated hearing people talking about data. I think in construction we don't always understand what that actually means, it's all the information that's in the systems that we're using and we're all using different types of technologies. In McKeon Group, for example, we're using the EVERCAM camera system, walking around the site, the camera is recording everything. That's actually data that you can utilise. You can create reports, you can use it to do health and safety audits and so on. There's so many different options, so many technologies out there, and we're just not using the data to work smarter." Sinead Savage, Business Development Director, McKeon Group speaking on the "Preparing the Workforce for the Future of AI" panel at today's CIF Digicon in Croke Park. Sinead was joined by panel members Declan McKibben, Executive Director, Research Ireland ADAPT Centre, Breda Corrigan, Chief Information Officer, Mannings Construction Group and Stephen Redmond, Founder, Straitéis AI #CIFDigicon26 #CIFDigital #DigitalConstruction #Offsite #MMC #IrishConstruction 📷Maura Hickey

"The Department of Housing came to Construct Innovate a few years ago and said there's a real need for standardised details for MMC. The overall concept is to make these details open access and freely available." Very interesting stuff like drones and GIS at a level that I haven't seen before. It's that data piece and structured data that is absolutely essential" Geraldine Healy Infrastructure Delivery Business Solutions Technical Manager, Uisce Éireann speaking about how Uisce Eireann ensures information is reliable throughout the project lifecycle on critical infrastructure works. at today's CIF Digicon in Croke Park. "Ramping up the development to the scale required over the next five, the next 10, the next 20 years is only going to be viable if we continue to innovate, if we become more efficient and we find new ways to deliver more." "Adopting new techniques and adopting digital approaches is key to getting a more diverse workforce into the sector." "We have an industry that we can be really proud of. An industry that's growing fast, over 200,000 people employed in our workforce. An industry that's actually growing overseas at four times the rate of growth domestically, which is a concern when we talk about that national housing and infrastructure challenge."
