Leonardo DRS announced today that it has been awarded a $500 million ceiling indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract with three-year period of performance from the Joint Interagency Task Force 401 (JIATF-401). Leonardo DRS today announced the launch of its cxMHR radar and confirmed that the company has begun initial production, marking the milestone at the Association of the U.S. Army's 2026 Annual Meeting & Exposition in Washington, D.C. The cxMHR, short for C-Band Extended Multi-Mission Hemispheric Radar, is a fully digital, software-defined, C-band Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) system built for modern integrated air and missile defense (IAMD) operations. Four AESA radar panels, Identification Friendly or Foe (IFF), command-and-control and supporting peripherals are integrated into a single, ISO-containerized system that can be transported by air, land or sea and deployed on a single vehicle.

Leonardo DRS establishes UK subsidiary and launches local capabilities for its tactical radars including full manufacturing to support the growing demand for counter-UAS, air defence and active protection system applications. Leonardo DRS announced the establishment of DRS UK, a new subsidiary created to support the company’s business in the United Kingdom, along with the launch of local production of tactical radars in the UK. The newly purpose-built production site expands DRS’s manufacturing footprint and creates a dedicated local presence to support UK defence customers, industry partners and system integrators. The company said the investment is intended to strengthen long-term support for UK programmes and provide greater flexibility to meet evolving operational requirements.
