Haemonetics (NYSE: HAE) announced, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved its PerQseal® Elite vascular closure system for large-bore arterial procedures. The approval expands the company’s portfolio of vascular closure technologies for structural heart and endovascular interventions in the United States, following its January 2026 acquisition of Vivasure Medical Limited. PerQseal Elite provides sutureless vascular closure for procedures performed using 14–22 French (F) sheaths. Its fully bioabsorbable patch seals arterial openings from inside the vessel and does not leave a permanent implant. The system also allows physicians to assess bleeding control while maintaining guidewire access, with the option to reposition or recover the device before implant release. In the prospective, multicenter ELITE arterial study, major device-related vascular access site complications through 30 days were reported at 0%, while mean time to hemostasis was less than one minute. Jan Hartmann, M.D., M.D., Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Haemonetics, described the FDA approval as an important milestone in the company’s strategy to expand its advanced vascular closure business. He said PerQseal Elite has the potential to simplify minimally invasive procedures, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), while supporting patient comfort and experience. The approval strengthens Haemonetics’ position in the U.S. market for large-bore vascular closure devices and brings a bioabsorbable, patch-based approach to procedures used in structural heart and endovascular care. The system’s ability to support rapid hemostasis while preserving guidewire access may offer procedural advantages for clinicians. Haemonetics plans to present and discuss additional clinical data at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) Conference at the end of October 2026. #Haemonetics #PerQsealElite #FDAApproval #MedicalTechnology #MedTech #VascularClosure #Cardiology #StructuralHeart #Endovascular #HealthcareInnovation

HYOSUNG TNC CORPORATION has begun commercial production of bio-based 1,4-butanediol (bio-BDO) in Vietnam, marking a significant milestone in Chairman Hyun-Joon Cho’s strategy to expand the group’s sustainable materials business. Announced on October 19, 2026, the development establishes an integrated production network connecting sugarcane-derived raw materials to finished bio-based spandex fibers. The Vietnam facility has an initial annual production capacity of 50,000 metric tons, supported by a planned US$1 billion investment. Hyosung intends to expand capacity in phases to 200,000 metric tons annually, depending on market demand. The plant produces bio-BDO by fermenting sugars derived from sugarcane, replacing fossil-based feedstocks used in conventional production. The resulting material is supplied to Hyosung’s Dong Nai operations, where it is converted into polytetramethylene glycol (PTMG), a key intermediate for manufacturing regen™ BIO spandex. 𝗛𝘆𝘂𝗻-𝗝𝗼𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗼, Chairman of Hyosung, described the integrated production system as a core pillar of the group’s long-term growth strategy. He emphasized that Hyosung aims to build on its experience in bio-based fibers to develop the market and strengthen its position in premium textiles worldwide. The integrated production model could strengthen raw-material supply reliability, improve manufacturing efficiency, and reduce transportation requirements across the company’s Vietnamese operations. By replacing fossil-derived feedstocks with renewable sugarcane-based inputs, Hyosung is positioning its bio-based materials portfolio for customers seeking traceable alternatives in apparel and other industrial applications. #Hyosung #HyosungTNC #BioBasedMaterials #BioBDO #SustainableTextiles #BioSpandex #CircularEconomy #GreenChemistry #SustainableManufacturing #MaterialsInnovation

CME Group is planning to launch tungsten futures by early Q1 2027, pending regulatory reviews. The new contracts will expand the exchange’s metals offerings and give market participants a financial instrument to manage exposure to tungsten prices. The global tungsten market produces approximately 85,000–95,000 metric tons annually and is valued at more than US$20 billion at current spot prices. The contracts will be financially settled against Fastmarkets’ assessment of ammonium paratungstate (APT) tungsten prices on a duty-unpaid, cost-insurance-freight basis for Rotterdam and Baltimore. The launch addresses a gap in a market that has an active spot trade but no established futures market. CME Group also reported that daily trading volume across its precious and industrial metals businesses reached 1.2 million contracts during the first nine months of 2026, up 41% year over year. Jin Hennig, Managing Director and Global Head of Metals at CME Group, said tungsten sits at the intersection of advanced manufacturing, semiconductor technologies, and geopolitics, with clients increasingly seeking tools to hedge price exposure and improve transparency. He added that the new futures contracts will expand CME Group’s critical-minerals and energy-transition metals offerings as global supply chains restructure. Quentin Lamarche, CEO of TechMet SCM, described the contract as a new tool for managing commercial risks associated with physical tungsten trading and logistics. He noted that transparent forward pricing could help support more reliable, long-term Western supply chains. #CMEGroup #Tungsten #CriticalMinerals #CommoditiesTrading #FuturesMarket #MetalsMarket #SupplyChain #RiskManagement #AdvancedManufacturing #Semiconductors
