Age of Calamity upgrade path

Nintendo recently announced a Switch 2 release for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity called Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity – Definitive Edition. We’ve done a number of posts on  Nintendo Switch 2 Editions we want to see, and Age of Calamity is almost always near the top. It’s one of the worst-performing Nintendo games on Switch – especially in multiplayer, where the frame rate sometimes drops into the single digits.

Originally, we thought the existence of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment might prevent Nintendo from updating Age of Calamity, but it turns out that was a non-factor after all. Unfortunately, though, as much as we’ve been wanting to see a Switch 2 version of Age of Calamity, it’s already being fumbled pretty badly.

Thousands of games are currently available on Nintendo Switch, and there are a ton of demos out there for many of them. Not just Nintendo, but also third-parties are offering demos. We’ve now put together a comprehensive list of what’s out there.

Since our reader base is English-speaking, that’s what we’re focusing on here. In other words, we’re highlighting Switch demos that you can find in North America and Europe. Japan has a few extra demos on its end, but a majority of them are for titles that are not currently being sold in the west and are only playable in Japanese.

When Metroid Dread first released in late 2021, it was a big thing for Nintendo. 2D Metroid had been completely dormant since Metroid Fusion all the way back in 2002, meaning we experienced almost twenty years of silence. It was really a Metroid renaissance. Looking back, to receive an all-new entry was amazing in and of itself, but to receive an all-new game that actually continued from where its predecessor left off rather than being a series reboot was nothing short of a miracle.

At the time, I wasn’t particularly interested in Metroid and hadn’t even played a single game in the series. For whatever reason, I decided to give it a shot – and even though I’m not a huge fan of Metroidvanias (which is absolutely a skill issue on my part, by the way), I wound up loving the game, 100 percent completing it multiple times, and even working my way through the no-hit super-tough Dread Mode. Now with Metroid Ravenous coming up, it’s never been a better time to give Metroid Dread a try if you haven’t done so already.
