Case Coordinator — Musaliha International Center for Arbitration & Dispute Resolution (MICADR), Legal Aid Society - Pakistan | Advocate, Sindh Bar Council | Certified Mediation Advocate Misbah Ali is a legal professional specialising in arbitration and dispute resolution, currently serving as Case Coordinator at MICADR — Pakistan's first Federal Government and High Court–notified Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) center. She holds a B.A./LL.B. from the University of Karachi, is an enrolled Advocate with the Sindh Bar Council, and is a Certified Mediation Advocate accredited through MICADR. In her current role, Misbah manages the full lifecycle of arbitration and mediation cases — from filing through hearings to final award and settlement — coordinating between parties, arbitrators, and legal teams, and preparing the documentation that keeps proceedings on track. She also supports MICADR's IMI-accredited mediation training programmes, institutional events, and the center's social media and outreach efforts to build national visibility for ADR. Her earlier experience spans intellectual property and trademark practice, and she brings a strong teaching background — having served as a Visiting Lecturer in Intellectual Property Law at the Dadabhoy Institute of Higher Education (DIHE) and in Business Law at MiTE University. Combining hands-on ADR practice with a genuine passion for teaching, Misbah offers law students a grounded, practitioner's view of Pakistan's evolving ADR landscape and the professional opportunities it is opening up for the next generation of young lawyers. #AlternativeDisputeResolution #MICADR #LawyersOfLinkedIn #Arbitration #Mediation #LegalProfession #WomenInLaw #PakistanLaw #IPLaw #LegalAid #LegalEducation

  • 🤝 What happens when a mediator gains an AI thinking partner — without handing over the judgment that makes mediation human? Released today, Prompt Engineering for Mediators by the Singapore Mediation Centre, Singapore Academy of Law, and Microsoft offers a practical framework for using generative AI across the mediation lifecycle — from preparation and issue analysis to live session support and post-mediation documentation. A few takeaways: 📌 AI supports, it doesn’t mediate. It can help summarise submissions, organise complex disputes, identify possible interests, generate neutral questions, brainstorm settlement options, reframe language, assist with translation, and support documentation. But the mediator’s judgment, neutrality, empathy, and responsibility remain firmly human. 📌 Confidentiality remains central. The Guide draws an important distinction between public and enterprise AI tools and emphasises anonymisation, redaction, data protection, and careful consideration of the terms governing the AI tool before any mediation material is entered. 📌 Good prompts reinforce neutrality. The Guide introduces a simple Goal – Context – Expectations – Source framework and encourages mediators to frame prompts neutrally, rather than asking AI to “argue for” or “win” for a party. 📌 Verify everything. AI-generated summaries, questions, options and insights are working drafts and potential areas for exploration — not conclusions. Hallucinations, bias, loss of context and over-reliance remain real risks. 📌 Transparency matters. Where appropriate, mediators should be transparent with parties about the use of generative AI, particularly where confidentiality, professional obligations or applicable rules are engaged. A timely resource for mediators and dispute resolution practitioners navigating the responsible use of AI in practice. At MICADR, we are committed to exploring how emerging technologies can strengthen access to and the practice of dispute resolution while keeping the principles of neutrality, confidentiality, and human judgment at the centre. #Mediation #DisputeResolution #ADR #GenerativeAI #LegalTech #PromptEngineering #AI

  • On 18th July 2026, Legal Aid Society - Pakistan and Musaliha International Center for Arbitration & Dispute Resolution (MICADR) successfully conducted the Certified Mediation Advocacy Skills Training, bringing together 98 legal professionals from the National Industrial Relations Commission (NIRC - national industrial relations commission pakistan), six Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) , Islamabad Bar Association (IBA), and Islamabad High Court Bar Association, Islamabad (IHCBA). Led by Mr. Muhammad Shahzar Ilahi and organized by Ms. Furrah Kashif, the training equipped participants with the practical skills and strategic mindset required to effectively advocate for clients in mediation. One of the most significant takeaways from the day came directly from the participants, particularly officials from the FBR and NIRC who regularly manage disputes. Their overwhelming consensus was clear: mediation should be made a mandatory step in the dispute resolution process. This strong endorsement from practitioners at the forefront of dispute management reflects the growing recognition that mediation is not only an effective mechanism for resolving conflicts but also a pathway to reducing delays, preserving relationships, and delivering more efficient justice. As momentum for ADR continues to grow across Pakistan, MICADR remains committed to strengthening institutional capacity and advancing a culture where mediation becomes an integral part of resolving disputes. #MICADR #Mediation #MediationAdvocacy #ADR #AlternativeDisputeResolution #DisputeResolution #CertifiedTraining #LegalProfession #Lawyers #NIRC #FBR #IslamabadBarAssociation #IHCBA #Justice #AccessToJustice #ConflictResolution #ProfessionalDevelopment #LegalTraining #Pakistan #MediationMatters

  • Beyond the Claim: Why Mediation Focuses on Interests, Not Positions When conflict arises, parties often focus on positions - what they want, what they believe they deserve, or what they expect the other side to do. Like the tip of an iceberg, these claims are only the visible part of the dispute. Beneath every position lies something deeper: interests. These include the need for trust, respect, financial security, fairness, dignity, recognition, family harmony, business continuity, and the desire to move forward. Traditional adversarial processes often determine who is right or wrong. Mediation, however, asks a different question: "What matters most?" By creating a safe and structured space for dialogue, mediation helps parties move beyond rigid positions to uncover the interests that truly drive the conflict. Once these interests are understood, conversations shift, creative solutions emerge, and agreements become more meaningful and sustainable. Whether the dispute involves a family, a workplace, a business partnership, or a commercial relationship, mediation does more than resolve issues - it helps preserve relationships that continue long after the dispute ends. At MICADR, we believe lasting resolution begins beneath the surface. Our mediation services empower parties to uncover shared interests, foster understanding, and develop practical solutions that respect both legal rights and human needs. Because the strongest agreements are not imposed - they are created through understanding. MICADR: Looking Beyond Positions. Uncovering Interests. Preserving Relationships. #MICADR #Mediation #AlternativeDisputeResolution #ADR #ConflictResolution #InterestBasedMediation #DisputeResolution #RelationshipPreservation #MediationMatters #Negotiation #Dialogue #AccessToJustice #LegalInnovation #CommercialMediation #FamilyMediation
