  • Launching ActionSpace Creative Pathways 🌟 Moving from education into adult life can be a challenging transition for young learning-disabled people, particularly when the support and opportunities available during education are no longer there. Creative Pathways is our new year-long project, offering young people the time, space and support to explore their creative practice, experiment with materials and techniques, and develop their artistic practice. 🌀 In an important article from The Guardian, journalist John Harris highlights the lack of recognition for disabled people’s lives beyond conventional expectations of adulthood, describing a system with “no conception of successful grownup lives that does not involve paid work”. Led by ActionSpace Artist Facilitator Emily Rees-Haynes at our ASC Ealing Road studio in Brent, our new project creates opportunities for young people to explore their creativity and what comes next. • British Art Show 10: Nnena Kalu 🌀 2 October 2026 – 3 January 2027 🔹 Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, Coventry (touring) ActionSpace artist Nnena Kalu is featured in British Art Show 10: A Chorus of Strangers, the latest edition of the landmark national exhibition celebrating artists shaping contemporary art in the UK. Nnena’s practice is rooted in repetition, movement and the physical act of making. Working across drawing and sculpture, she creates large-scale works through sustained physical engagement with materials, building dense surfaces through repeated, energetic marks. The resulting works are expansive, rhythmic and full of movement. Nnena’s inclusion in British Art Show 10 is a significant recognition of her practice and its place within contemporary British art. The exhibition features two of her works, 'Drawing 55' (2021) and 'Drawing 46' (2022). Curated by Ekow Eshun, British Art Show 10 explores human connection and the figure of the Other in divided times, bringing together more than 30 artists. The exhibition tours nationally from Coventry, where it opens today, through to June 2028. 🌟 Explore the exhibition: https://lnkd.in/dE_qeQj7 🔗 Image 1: Nnena Kalu, Drawing 55, 2021. • As we celebrate this year’s Turner Prize nominees, we’re also reflecting on ActionSpace artist Nnena Kalu’s historic Turner Prize win in 2025. Nnena’s achievement as the first learning-disabled artist to win continues to challenge ideas about who gets to be recognised within the visual arts, and has had a significant ripple effect on the visibility of learning-disabled artists. 🌟 Congratulations to Marguerite Humeau, Tanoa Sasraku, Simeon Barclay and Kira Freije on their nominations. Having experienced the excitement and significance of the Turner Prize with Nnena last year, we know what an extraordinary moment this can be, and we’re wishing all of this year’s nominees the very best of luck. 💫 Explore more of Nnena’s work: https://lnkd.in/emv7pyqz 🔗 Image 1: Nnena Kalu at the Turner Prize Award Ceremony 2025.
