Since starting Science Owl, I've placed a big focus on libraries, so I wanted to explain why. They are some of the most important free community spaces we have. Libraries provide far more than people realise. But they’ve faced years of funding pressure and cuts. They’re places where children can learn outside school, where families can take part in activities together, and where communities can access opportunities they might not otherwise come across. They also act as cool spaces in summer, and warm spaces in winter. It's currently Green Libraries Week, which is an awareness week run by CILIP, the library and information association and Science Owl has a programme of events across various libraries. We're running a mix of workshops including our Climate Detectives, Her Climate Legacy, and Once Upon an Invention sessions. Some are open community sessions for children and families, and others bring whole school classes into the library. This is a little clip from Sunday Morning Live where last weekend I talked about why I think libraries have such an important role to play in sustainability. --- 👋 I'm Renee, founder of Science Owl.
