Pokémon of the Day

A three-fingered monkey fist? No wonder this is Peer's favorite new Pokémon.

January 24, 2000

Mondays are special days indeed for Pokémen and women -- every Monday, IGNpocket will be sneaking into this country and (onto our web site) one of the brand new Pokémons from the Japanese Silver and Gold Pokémon games. You won't be able to catch these newest Pokécritters until the games' release in September, 2000, so this is your only chance to get your Pokédose of Pokémania for almost a year. There are 100 new Pokémons total, so keep coming back to IGNpocket to catch them all!

Also, be sure to check out our PokéContest once you learn all about this Pokémon -- the prize pack is all new (or should I say "Neo"). Head on over to our Contest page where you must answer one question about this Pokémon. Get the answer right, and you'll be entered to win the Pokémon prize of that day. But to win, you'll have to register – it's a painless process, and well worth the three minutes of your time.

Now, on to today's Pokémon of the Day:

Eipamu (#190)

Image Pronunciation:
APE-PALM

Element
Normal

Type
Normal

Height
2' 8"

Weight
25 lbs.

Techniques
Sand Attack
Swift

A three-fingered monkey fist? No wonder this is Peer's favorite new Pokémon.

Eipamu (who will likely be called Apepalm when he arrives in the states) is a tweaking monkey. It's got a hand on his tail, which makes it easy for this ape to climb just about any tree. It can also stand on his palmed tail. His tail is quite strong, and he's very arrogant about that, so he makes many nasty sounds to attract attention. And, as our resident Master of the Obvious Peer Schneider states, it has a freaky grin and its eyes are really big.

Useless factoid: Epamu does not evolve into any higher Pokémon form, but at level 27 he learns the Swift Attack, which is the only maneuver that can effectively counter a Dig or Fly Attack.

NOTE: The name of this Pokémon will likely change when the Silver and Gold Pokémon Game Boy Color games are translated and brought over. Names of Pokémons are plays on words (both in Japan and the US), so expect the names to be witty and charismatic translations of the Japanese names.

Now that you've gotten your Pokélesson and you are a Pokéscholar, take this info over to our Pokémon Contest and enter yourself for a chance to win some great Poképrizes. Get the answer right, and you may win yourself the Pokémon 'Neo' Prize Pack -- "Neo" Ultra-Limited Edition Japanese Pokémon cards (based on the Silver and Gold Pokémon games, and not available in stores anywhere in the US), Japanese Pokémon puzzles, Pokémon Key Chains, Pokémon videos... Everything but the Pokésink! It's a super Pokéfreak-out! So take the Pokéchallenge, and put some Poké in your pocket!

If you haven't registered, get your butt over to our Registration page and put all the pertinent information so you get in on the goods.
