Bush said that Cheney is a "half-glass-full" kind of guy. First of all, "half-glass-full"? Second of all, Cheney's the optimist of the White House? We're doomed. We're so doomed. However, from what Jon shared with us, Cheney has quite a way with words.

Three weeks into a new season, American Idol continues to dominate the television landscape. And it now looks like the phenomenom has its eyes set on dominating the internet, as well. The official American Idol website has become an increasingly popular destination for millions of steadfast fans. Visits have reportedly doubled since last year's season premiere.
Jonathan, our resident Aqua Teen Hunger Force reviewer, mentioned that last season's finale aired in the inexplicable timeslot of 3:30 a.m. on December 22. if you missed it, and undoubtedly many of you did, the episode will air again on March 11 at 10:30 p.m., according to the Adult Swim schedule grid.
Given the original timeslot this aired in and the fact that this "new" episode (the grid lists it as a "premiere") is tossed in among a bunch of Aqua Teen repeats, it almost feels as if Adult Swim doesn't want people to see this episode. I don't actually believe that, but criminy, they're not making it easy for us fans to catch it. If I have one major pet peeve about the way Adult Swim operates it's that it makes it nearly impossible to find information and news about its programming. I have to hire retired FBI agents and Navy Seals just to bring readers these small snippets of info. Believe me, you can only pay these men in Hostess products for so long before they leave for better work. It's not a perfect system, but I do what I can.
Those of you who read my Simpsons reviews know I'm somewhat of an apologist for the series, defending it against those who say it's no longer a worthwhile show. I will say, however, that I don't think newer episodes always earn the emotional resonance they strive for. Many of the episodes from the first few seasons were genuinely heart-warming, but that emotional center isn't as prevalent in later episodes, though I hasten to add it's not gone completely.
In a brief interview on Rotten Tomatoes, voice actor Dan Castellaneta (Homer, Barney, Krusty the Clown, many others) talked about how doing voices for the movie was different than doing voices for the TV series. James L. Brooks, who has helmed such blockbusters as Terms of Endearment and As Good As It Gets, and has been an executive producer on the series from the very beginning, helped direct the voice actors to get them to enhance the emotional aspects of the characters. The result, says Castellaneta, is a movie that will be not unlike the TV series, but with levels of emotion reached that don't necessarily work on the small screen.
The movie comes out July 27.
Thanks to fellow Simpsons nut Wild Bill for the link.
Dustin Diamond was forced to be quarantined while filming Celebrity Fit Club because of something he said to past American Idol contestant Kimberly Locke.
Ed Helms' status has been changed from "recurring" to "regular" on The Office.
This is a little surprising to me. I thought that Andy and Karen would only be on the show for this season, since they were the newbies in the Dunder-Mifflin office and were brought over to just be a wrench in the Jim/Pam and Michael/Dwight relationships. And I thought that this was confirmed in the last couple of episodes, since Jim told Karen he still likes Pam and Michael was hip to Andy's sneaky, suckup-ish ways. But I guess that the people behind the scenes have more plans for these two characters.
Of course, Rashida Jones, who plays Karen, still hasn't been made a regular, so maybe she's on her way out after all. Though if Pam gets back together with Roy, maybe Jim will need her again.
Oscar-nominated actress Jennifer Hudson feels her experience on American Idol was mostly negative and "abusive". She told Essence magazine that the the show made a character out of her and made it hard to be herself. She says, "You've been abused, misled and brainwashed to believe whatever they want you to think." She doesn't seem to hold any animosity though, saying that she has moved on and "I didn't look back."
Hudson was the 6th finalist to be voted off American Idol during season three. On stage, she often seemed angry about the criticism she received from the judges. But she's not telling lies. It's pretty obvious that the show molds singers into products that people will buy. It's like one giant focus group every single week.
Ever since Moral Orel creator Dino Stamatopoulos told meRobot Chicken and LucasFilm were joining forces for a kick ass Star Wars-themed special (Moral Orel and Robot Chicken use the same production space), I've been keeping my eyes peeled for when the special might air. It was originally included on the schedule grid on February 4 at 11:30 p.m., but later that section of the grid was blacked out. Now, it looks likes an episode of Family Guy has taken over that timeslot.
That doesn't necessarily mean the special isn't going to air, and most likely the schedule will change, as it always does. Currently both Moral Orel and Boondocks have reruns listed in March, the month when both of those series are actually supposed to return with new episodes. I've learned not to rely on Adult Swim's schedule too far into the future, for she is a mercurial beast.
I'm reminding readers for two reasons. One, it's an important milestone for David Letterman. His guests tonight will be Bill Murray (who was on his very first NBC and CBS shows) and basketball player LeBron James. And two, The Late Show With David Letterman has been in repeats this week (and the end of last week), so some people might assume that tonight and tomorrow are repeat episodes too. But they're brand-spanking new.
The NY Daily News lists their Top 10 David Letterman moments, and they include Madonna's expletive-filled appearance, Sonny and Cher getting back together, and Oprah finally coming on the show. And if you're feeling nostalgic for his old NBC show, YouTube has some clips.
Popular YouTube star Lisa Nova, real name Lisa Donovan, will be joining the cast of MADtv on Saturday, February 17. Donovan originally auditioned for MADtv upon moving to Los Angeles, but didn't make the cut. She then started her own production company and started putting her short films on YouTube. Those shorts were seen by a casting director at MADtv and Donovan was given another shot.
Of course, this shouldn't come as much of a surprise, since MADtv's main competition, Saturday Night Live, also dipped its ladle into the internet comedy pot to bring the Lonely Island boys to the show, and with impressive results. We'll see if MADtv can duplicate some of that success as well, or if they'll force Donovan to play the same three characters over and over and over again, which I'm fairly certain is written into everyone's contract on that series.
Its Wednesday night and you're sitting on the couch.
Week after week you park yourself in front of American Idol and feel that you can sing way better than any of these darn contestants on your screen. You agree with Randy about that person's tone and admire Paula's ability to recognize true star power.
If only you could meet Randy and Paula, they would be able to tell you how good you really are and send you to Hollywood.
You quickly put your dreams aside, because you can barely get out of your podunk town.
Realizing your ice cube's chance in hell, you move on with your regular life...Until that fateful day at Wal-Mart.
CBS is really promoting Rules of Engagement, the new comedy starring David Spade and Patrick Warburton. It seems like they're running an ad for the show on every other TV show that they have. But will this show be a success, or be just another midseason sitcom that gets pulled quickly?
I haven't seen the show yet, but the cast is funny. Both Spade and Warburton are funny no matter what they're in (I have no opinion of Oliver Hudson - not even sure if I've ever seen him in anything before). Warburton was funny in Seinfeld and The Tick, and Spade...well, a lot of people hate him, but I think he's a riot. Sure, he does one thing (horny, slightly sleazy guy with quirks), but he does it really well. Just Shoot Me wouldn't have been the same without his character, and I actually think that he's the reason 8 Simple Rules lasted so long after John Ritter passed away. The dynamic of the show changed and was actually improved somehow after Spade (and James Garner) were brought on board.
So will Rules of Engagement be a surprise hit, or will be just fade away into oblivion? (I guess there's a third option, the Yes, Dear option, where a show no one seems to watch or talk about somehow stays around for 25 years).
The new sketch comedy series, Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job!, from Tom Goes to the Mayor creators Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim kicks off February 11 at 11:45pm on Adult Swim. There are a bunch of promos for the series on YouTube, none of which really explain what the show is about, but if it the series is anything like Tim and Eric's previous work, it probably defies explanation anyway. Or, it's a brand new approach to comedy that is actually much smarter than it seems. Either way, I'll be checking it out.
Oh yeah, and if you want to experience the boys live, they're hitting the road later this month for the Tim and Eric Awesome Tour, with absolutely no stops in the Midwest, the rat bastards. Tour stops and ticket information are after the jump. If you get a chance to meet either Tim or Eric on this tour, tell them Adam sends his love from Minneapolis and then kick them in the shins for me. Thanks.
