Social Security dollars don’t retire. They fuel New York’s businesses and economy. Every Social Security dollar spent on groceries, prescriptions, meals or other necessities helps support businesses and communities across the state. Past cuts meant an estimated $26.2 billion in lost economic activity in New York in 2025 alone. That represents consumer spending and business activity that never materialized. Social Security isn’t only a retirement issue. It’s a business issue and an economic issue.
