The En-ROADS climate solutions simulator, developed by Climate Interactive and MIT Sloan School of Management, is a tool for creating and testing climate scenarios and the MIT Climate Pathways Project uses the simulator to engage global top decision-makers. In a session at #ClimateWeekNYC, the group used the simulator to explore several scenarios:  - Mapping the history and future of Western Canadian wildfires and what it would take to create a future where kids can once again spend more summer days freely playing outside.  - Simulating the high end of plausible global nuclear power scenarios to see how quickly nuclear powder can scale and contribute to cutting future greenhouse gas emissions. - The technology, investment, and policy it would take to limit warming to 1.9 °C. Well this is just cool. We're partnering up again with the Metcalf Institute for a constructive climate journalism training. And in this one, Katherine Markova will take you on an interactive tour of En-ROADS, a climate solutions simulator. It's as close as you can get to playing video games while still reporting! It's fun, but it's also useful: You can simulate climate solutions to research, fact-check or visualize data. What role do designers play in helping ensure a livable future for all? What comes to mind first is designing for durability, repairability, recyclability, end of life sustainability.
