About us
The mission of the College and Community Fellowship (CCF) is to eliminate the individual and social barriers to education and civic participation of women with criminal convictions and their families. Through our activities and programs, CCF addresses the educational, economic, and civic participation needs of women with criminal convictions in the New York metropolitan area, working in concert with other organizations to enhance their successful re-entry. CCF is also one third of the national non-partisan advocacy group called the "Education from the Inside Out Coalition," which works to remove societal barriers that prevent currently and formerly incarcerated individuals from gaining an education. Graduation day with the participants of POWER, People Organizing for Women’s Empowerment and Rights, a pilot advocacy program of College & Community Fellowship. I served as the workshop developer and facilitator, leading a multi-session advocacy and organizing series throughout the program. POWER was created to empower justice-impacted women to build the skills needed to lead their own community initiatives across New York State. Honored to celebrate these women as they step into their leadership. #Advocacy #CivicEngagement #CommunityLeadership

These past two weeks… whew. I’m still holding everything I felt standing at SOMOS and the ASC Conference, representing CCF and every single woman whose life has been touched, shaken, or reshaped by the legal system. As an artivist and program creator, I’ve learned that every room I walk into is bigger than me. I speak for the women who were never expected to make it into these spaces. The women still navigating systems that were never designed for us. The women who are rebuilding in real time, every day, while the world overlooks what we carry. What amazes me even now is how much educating we still have to do. How often we still have to explain what justice-impacted women face: Barriers to housing. Barriers to work. Barriers to opportunity. Barriers to simply being seen as whole. And yet… we keep showing up. We keep building. We keep pushing. We keep telling the truth loudly until the world listens. Standing on those stages reminded me why this fight is personal. Why I create. Why I advocate. Why I refuse to shrink. Because our lived experience is not a setback. It’s a blueprint. We’re here. We’re present. We’re powerful. And we are far from done. Mimi Coffie Artivist | Program Creator | Community Storyteller
