Firestorm’s xCell moves industrial-grade manufacturing capabilities forward, giving warfighters the right to repair and iterate critical technologies. Not only can it produce low-cost UAVs in hours, it can print repair parts to legacy systems that would otherwise be inoperable for months.

How can distributed manufacturing strengthen defense readiness and national security? At ICAM 2026, leaders from across defense, government, and industry will examine how distributed manufacturing has evolved, where it is delivering value today, and what needs to happen next. Happy Firestorm Day to all who celebrate🔥 One year ago, on the day of our new HQ ribbon-cutting, the City of San Diego officially proclaimed September 15th as Firestorm Labs Day. We're honored to contribute to the San Diego tech ecosystem by building capability that supports the warfighters. Thank you Todd Gloria and everyone who has supported our journey.

During xCell’s two-week deployment at sea, Firestorm designed and manufactured a critical component on-demand for an attack helicopter: a droop stop that helps protect the aircraft’s main rotor and blades from damage. While these helicopters are routinely transported by ship, they had never operated from a Navy deck with their rotors mounted. During this deployment, they did so in some of the heaviest seas off Southern California in five years, exposing the rotor system to constant waves, wind, and deck movement. The sailors and marines on the ship turned to Firestorm’s xCell to print a component where and when it was needed, preventing potentially millions of dollars of damage. That’s the power of expeditionary manufacturing: keeping critical systems in the fight instead of waiting months for repair parts to arrive. This was conducted aboard the USS Essex and facilitated by CAMRE at the Naval Postgraduate School and their PIA partner FLEETWERX.
