Thank you, NBC News TODAY Show, for celebrating Dallis and her Detroit Public Schools Community District auto tech classmates in this week's Sunday Spotlight. Dallis started tinkering with cars alongside her grandfather as a little girl. Now she's bringing that family passion to the classroom and preparing for a career as an auto technician. Her talent and passion shows what's possible when students have the right tools and support to pursue careers in the skilled trades. Ford Motor Company is proud to partner with Detroit Public Schools Community District Foundation and Bloomberg Philanthropies to expand and modernize Detroit's auto technician program. #EssentialEconomy #SkilledTrades

Every September, Ford employees around the world come together to roll up their sleeves, give back and help move our communities forward. What makes Global Caring Month so special is that it is entirely employee-led. This year, employees supported communities in times of urgent need through disaster response, cared for green spaces through gardening initiatives, and helped create places where people can learn, grow and thrive by refurbishing skills development centres. Behind every project is a group of dedicated employees who turned an idea into action and rallied the support to make it happen. Thank you to every volunteer who gave their time, energy and heart. Your efforts show what it means to move communities forward. 🌀THE STORM HAS PASSED, AND THE WORK OF RECOVERY BEGINS!🛠️ Good news from Panama City...ToolBank Disaster Services Director Bill Hess is back at our warehouse following Hurricane Isaias, and we're thankful to report no damage to our facility!🙌 Now, Bill is connecting with our disaster relief partners to coordinate cleanup efforts and help impacted communities get back on their feet.🤝 🪣NEED CLEANUP SUPPLIES? WE'RE READY TO HELP! We will have Grainger disaster-relief buckets stocked with trash bags available to help community members tackle debris cleanup. As Hurricane Isaias approaches the Gulf Coast, our disaster relief partners are already preparing to respond. Ford Philanthropy is proud to support their efforts, helping get vehicles and resources into position. Here’s what that looks like on the ground: • World Central Kitchen used its Ford-donated F-350 to tow its amphibious all-terrain vehicle to Pensacola, so the team is in place before the storm arrives. • Team Rubicon pre-staged its Emergency Operations Center in the Florida Panhandle. • ToolBank USA has staged trailers stocked with tools and disaster supplies in Panama City, Foley and Pensacola. • Hispanic Federation pre-staged two Ford-donated Transit vans for response in Immokalee, Fellsmere/Port St. Lucie, Homestead and Pierson. To our partners and neighbors across the Gulf Coast, thank you for moving fast to look out for one another. When the storm passes, the work won't be over. We'll continue working alongside our partners to support recovery efforts. If you're able to offer support, consider donating to a local relief organization or exploring volunteer opportunities as community needs become clear.

Ford Motor Company CEO Jim Farley is again calling attention to the skilled trades shortage. This time, he has new research behind it. Ford worked with the Ad Council Research Institute to study how students, parents and teachers view the trades. The key finding: only about a third of teenagers believe a trades career is respected. Farley said interested students often can't find a clear first step. Many get steered toward a four-year degree instead. In his words, the trades have been treated as "a fallback rather than a calling." Ford has been busy over the past year. It co-founded the Alliance for America's Skilled Trades with Google, BlackRock and Carhartt. It partnered with Bloomberg Philanthropies to expand Detroit Public Schools' auto tech program. It also teamed up with Lyft to help SkillsUSA students get to training and apprenticeships. Its ACCELERATE the Essential Economy summit returns next week. Our partner Scholars of Sustenance Thailand - SOS Thailand is on the ground delivering meals and essential supplies to our neighbors across Thailand, as severe flooding reaches neighborhoods in Bangkok and the northern provinces. This is #FordBuildingTogether in action, putting our superpowers to work so partners like SOS Thailand can reach more neighbors, faster. Here's what that looks like: 🔹 A pre-funded disaster relief grant from Ford Philanthropy is helping SOS Thailand mobilize quickly. 🔹 Ford Motor CompanyThailand is providing high-clearance vehicles, like the Ford Ranger and Ranger Super Duty, to reach communities that are hard to access. 🔹 Members of our Ford Volunteer Corps are collecting, packing and delivering aid alongside the SOS team. Thank you for all you're doing, SOS! Keep up the great work; we're proud to be in your corner.

This month, we had the opportunity to turn an idea into reality. ⛵️ With the support of a Ford Motor Company Global Caring Month grant, we built a Dry-Land Sailing Trainer for Sail GI, a nonprofit dedicated to teaching sailing to military members, veterans, and first responders. The goal is simple: build confidence on land before building confidence on the water. The trainer will allow new sailors to learn the fundamentals, practice teamwork, and experience how a sailboat responds to wind—all in a safe, controlled environment before ever leaving the dock. We’re incredibly proud of what we built and grateful to Ford for helping make it possible. Now comes the best part: putting it to work and getting more people on the water. 💙⛵️ #SailGI #FordBuildingTogether #GlobalCaringMonth #Veterans #fordyachtclub

An important new report (and accompanying localized data dashboard) from the Alliance for America's Skilled Trades gives us worthwhile insights into a critical workforce issue: where the skilled-trades jobs are and how we prepare people to fill them: https://lnkd.in/ePnvVmSU The challenge is substantial. The report estimates that we need to fill 1.7 million skilled-trades jobs every year. Meanwhile, our training systems are currently preparing roughly 55 workers for every 100 we will need. There is also a tremendous opportunity. Many young people are interested in the trades and want a path to a good-paying, middle-class career. Too often, however, they don't know where to start. No single training model works for every occupation and industry. However, the apprenticeship programs operated by the unions affiliated with North America's Building Trades Unions (NABTU), that are highlighted in the report. provide gold-standard examples of the outcomes that high-quality skills and placement programs can achieve for workers, employers, unions, and communities. The larger lesson is straightforward: we need to make it much easier for people to find and complete the training that leads to good jobs and economic security. This report is a worthwhile contribution to that conversation. I encourage you to take a look. We wrapped up our second annual #FordAccelerate summit and it was an incredible day. We brought together 700+ leaders and voices from across business, government, skilled trades, education, and more at Michigan Central to talk about the people and industries that keep our country moving. We heard different perspectives, shared ideas, and had thoughtful conversations about where change is needed. To close the event, I shared these takeaways with attendees outlining what I think are the key actions we need to collectively tackle to address this challenge: 1. Design the whole path to a career. We need to reach students, parents and career changers with messages that speak to their aspirations — the earlier the better. We need to expand apprenticeships and high-quality training tied to employers’ needs so students have a job when they finish. Make it possible to finish: childcare, transportation, and the chance to earn money while they study. A training seat is a start. A good-paying career is the goal. 2. Break the silos. Incredible work is happening across this country, but we shouldn’t work in isolation. Employers, schools, unions, towns, cities, and philanthropy each hold part of the answer. We can each run a great program — and still leave someone stranded between us. We don’t all have the same job, but our work has to connect. 3. This is about our national security. We cannot compete against other nations if we don’t have a strong industrial base. It depends on people who know how to build, install, maintain and repair… We can’t separate our ambitions for national defense and economic security from the workforce needed to deliver them. Think about how we mobilized during World War II. Today's challenge is different, but we need that same shared sense of purpose and sustained commitment. 4. We need a blockbuster public service campaign. Think about these messages: "Only you can prevent forest fires." “Friends don’t let friends drive drunk.” They taught us an important lesson for the greater good. That’s the ambition of our Ad Council campaign coming next year. A message people remember and act on. Here’s a teaser: https://lnkd.in/p/grQbj4kX 5. Make it personal. We all have our own connections to the skilled trades. Our first job, the second chance, the apprenticeship that changed someone’s future. Spotlight the skilled workers – and the teachers, mentors, others who helped them succeed. That’s a short list, but a lot of work. I’m encouraged by all who came ready to roll up their sleeves and help build a stronger #EssentialEconomy for America’s future. Thank you to everyone who made this year’s summit such a meaningful one. I asked everyone who was there to send in a commitment for the next year. Then when we come back in 2027, we’ll be a lot further along. I’m proud of the progress we’ve made, but let’s come back even prouder next year. Let’s get to work!
