Software valuations have fallen about 60% from their 2021 peak, while deal volume is up 24% year over year, creating new opportunities for private equity sponsors and strategic buyers to build scaled platforms at lower entry points. At the same time, AI is making it harder to determine which software businesses will sustain their value. Our new paper examines three different approaches to software roll-ups — from decentralized acquisition models to more integrated platforms built around shared technology, product capabilities and AI — and what buyers should consider when choosing the right strategy. Six years after her breast cancer diagnosis, Lara Quie reflects on the support that made a difference during her treatment, the lessons she carries with her today and how workplaces can better support colleagues navigating serious health challenges. What support made the biggest difference during your breast cancer treatment? I was really lucky to have a very supportive employer when I received my diagnosis six years ago. Duane Morris & Selvam LLP in Singapore really showed they cared. My colleagues were incredibly kind and supportive, and I was able to take a year off for intensive treatment. I was then able to return on a part-time basis as I rebuilt my strength and immunity. The firm’s support really helped my recovery. How has your experience with cancer changed your perspective on life and work? A life event like this really puts things into perspective. You learn what matters and what does not. You learn not to sweat the small stuff, to have a greater sense of gratitude and to find joy in the little things. You also learn that you are truly resilient and can do hard things. Showing up for weekly chemo sessions that you know will involve a huge needle is not for the faint-hearted. What advice would you give to others who may be facing a diagnosis themselves or supporting a loved one through treatment? My advice is to take each day as it comes and not focus too much on the past or future. Know that this too shall pass. You can come out stronger and more authentic. Life is precious, and you have to make the most of it. Do things you enjoy and try to find a distraction. I completed an international coaching course online, which helped me tremendously. #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #TeamFTI
