Agents are becoming the way people, businesses, and developers get things done. Instead of opening an app or browsing a site, users ask their agent, and the agent finds the tool, uses it, and pays for it. For anyone building software, that means meeting users inside whatever agent they're using. Agents went from under 3% of Vercel's new business to about half in nine months, and that shift is coming for every product. The ones that win will be easy for agents to reach, with an MCP server they can call, a connector they can plug into, and a checkout where "buy this" just works. Join Lane and Manufact (YC S25) for Agentic Payments + MCP: Demo Night at our office, where we'll bring together the builders and ecosystem players shaping how software gets built for agents. • An agent with a card on file is an open wallet with unlimited access. An agent with no card is a dead end. Today, we're announcing a partnership with VGS to build the new option: a trusted, tightly controlled way for your agents to spend. Lane is the payments toolkit for AI agents. VGS is the tokenization and PCI infrastructure underneath it. Together, agents get scoped, programmable purchasing power, and no raw card numbers ever reach an LLM. Behind every lane pay call: a VGS-vaulted card, a Visa-issued network token, a single-use cryptogram, a mandate the user pre-authorized, and an audit log that captures every action with human-traceable consent. If you're building or using an agent that needs to spend money, this is one less aspect to worry about. Developers can interact with Lane directly in the CLI, out of the box, or via our SDK if you want to build a more custom integration. Had a great lunch last week hosted by MONASHEES , Anthropic, and Stripe in CDMX talking about the future of agentic commerce. One thing was clear: everyone in the ecosystem is still figuring this out together, and that's what makes this moment so exciting to build in. The hard part isn't the AI. It's payments. Authentication, authorization, disputes, liability, the infrastructure that makes consumers trust a transaction is complex, and it exists for good reason. Agents are probabilistic. Payments are deterministic. Bridging those two worlds is a joint effort. For money to move at the speed of prompts, it first has to move at the speed of trust. Thanks for hosting!

  • The future of commerce isn't search. It's conversation. Right now, most brands are still stuck in a world where every AI interaction ends with a link-out. Discovery has shifted into AI, but checkout hasn’t quite caught up. That's a problem we're looking to solve: we just ran a full end‑to‑end purchase through an AI agent powered by Worldpay and Lane. Here’s what it looked like: 1. User: Asks AI for Jordan 9s. 2. Lane: Serves a catalog to the agent that is compliant with OpenAI and Google protocols, so it understands the inventory. 3. User: Confirms purchase terms. 4. Lane: Hosts checkout and delegates payment to Worldpay. 5. Worldpay: Executes the secure transaction natively via their Agentic Commerce APIs and tech stack. Result: Lane syncs order instantly to the merchant's backend, and the user receives an email confirmation from the store. That’s it. Intent → purchase. No friction. Shoutout to the Worldpay team - Reshmi S., Harsh Mehta, Simon Farrow for their collaboration on this. • Lane is heading to NRF ‘26! 🍎 Figuring out how to ready your store for agentic commerce? If you are navigating your AI strategy for 2026, we’d love to connect at National Retail Federation Big Show. We’re meeting with retailers and ecosystem partners to discuss what it means to be AI-shoppable and how to capture the next wave of agent-driven revenue. Let's find time to chat in NYC. 🗓 Meet with the team: https://lnkd.in/g8vNV-nj

We left Visa to build the commerce rails for AI. Our thesis is simple: The web was built for human users, not bots, and it shows. Right now, AI agents are trying to shop, but existing merchant setups are hostile to them: 🟦 Catalogs are trapped behind visual front-ends. 🟦 Checkout flows are designed for clicks, not API calls. 🟦 The best most merchants can offer an AI agent today is a redirect link. That is a dead end. Here lies the massive friction point emerging: the on-ramp for merchants to become AI-shoppable is incredibly steep and holds many hurdles. It isn't just about payments, it’s the complexity of exposing live product catalogs and checkout flows to a fragmented layer of AI models and legacy stacks. We are creating the infrastructure layer that abstracts away the daunting gap between merchants and their products being discoverable and shoppable across all major AI platforms, because appearing in AI search results is only as useful as the sales you can capture from them. Agents are the web’s new shoppers, give them their own lane. 🌐 Visit our site: http://getonlane.com/ 🗓 Book a call: https://lnkd.in/gtB5QQ-j
