  • After surviving life-threatening medical emergencies, HCA Healthcare patients Frederick Yates and John Hawkins returned to 🏥 Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri, for a very different kind of visit. At a special reunion hosted by the hospital, they reconnected with the care teams who helped save their lives and celebrated how far they've come. Both patients received extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), a highly specialized form of life support that temporarily supports the heart, lungs or both when they cannot function adequately on their own, giving patients critical time for treatment and recovery. As part of our HCA Midwest Health network, Research Medical Center is one of a limited number of hospitals in that region to offer ECMO. Delivering this complex treatment requires advanced technology and coordinated expertise from highly trained clinical teams. For Frederick and John, that combination of specialized expertise, teamwork and compassionate care helped make their recoveries possible — and their reunion with the people who cared for them all the more meaningful. ❤️ #ImproveMoreLives

“Don’t ignore the signs. Early screenings save lives and they could save yours.” 💗 For HCA Healthcare nurse Alexandra Foster, #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth is personal. After discovering a lump, Alexandra initially believed she was too young to have breast cancer. Encouraged by those around her, she sought care and was diagnosed at just 33 years old following a mammogram during her lunch break at 🏥 Medical City Healthcare Decatur in Texas. Alexandra began her career at the same hospital when she was just 18. Years later, as a nurse experiencing care from the patient's perspective, she gained a deeper understanding of the uncertainty patients face and the lasting impact of compassion. Today, Alexandra is embracing life as a breast cancer survivor, bringing that perspective to her work as an emergency nurse and cherishing time with her family. "I pour my heart and soul into working in the ER, being a good mom and wife and living life to the fullest." In 2025, healthcare professionals across our broader HCA Healthcare network performed approximately 1 million screening mammograms, helping people take proactive steps toward early detection. Now is the time to prioritize your breast health. Find a screening location across our network: https://lnkd.in/epPGszy7. #HealthierTomorrows #HCANurses

  • Every breath counts, and respiratory therapists help make lifesaving care possible. During Respiratory Care Week, we recognize the important role respiratory therapists (RTs) play in caring for our patients and supporting our care teams. With specialized training in lung and respiratory care, RTs provide expert care during critical moments — from emergency care and intensive care to recovery and ongoing support. RTs across the HCA Healthcare network collaborate with care teams to support patients when it matters most. In 2025, our network supported approximately 47 million patient encounters, including 10 million emergency room visits. Through their clinical expertise, compassion and collaboration, RTs make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve. To our RTs, thank you for the specialized care and compassion you bring to every patient interaction. 💙 #CareLikeFamily #RespiratoryCareWeek #RCWeek26

  • Research Spotlight: As an internal medicine resident in HCA Healthcare’s Graduate Medical Education (GME) program, Dr. Ahmad Karzoun identified an opportunity to build on evidence-based care for patients with heart failure, turning clinical curiosity into a meaningful quality improvement project. At HCA Florida Blake Hospital, Dr. Karzoun collaborated with physician mentors, pharmacists, research leaders and clinical technology specialists to explore clinical insights and identify opportunities to further advance evidence-based care. His work helped inform enhancements to clinical decision-making, supporting clinicians in applying established guidelines while continuing to make individualized treatment decisions for their patients. Early findings are encouraging as Dr. Karzoun continues to evaluate the project's impact on patient outcomes. The experience reinforced his belief in the importance of collaboration, continuous learning and keeping patients at the center of care. Now a chief internal medicine resident with an interest in pursuing a cardiology fellowship, Dr. Karzoun credits his mentors and colleagues with helping him turn a clinical observation into an opportunity to advance care. His work reflects how HCA Healthcare's GME program empowers residents and fellows to ask meaningful clinical questions, collaborate across disciplines and translate research and learning into continued advancements in patient care. • Each year, the HCA Healthcare Awards of Distinction recognize extraordinary individuals who exemplify our organization’s culture and values. At this year’s awards ceremony, we were honored to present Dr. Narendra Singh of Rio Grande Regional Hospital, with the 2026 Frist Humanitarian Award. Established in 1971, the Frist Humanitarian Award recognizes individuals whose work and lives embody the humanitarian principles upon which HCA Healthcare was founded. For more than two decades, Dr. Singh has traveled regularly from his home in Toronto, Canada, to South Texas to care for children in the Rio Grande Valley. His commitment to expanding access to high-quality care helped establish pediatric intensivist services and strengthen critical care in a medically underserved community. Beyond the hospital, Dr. Singh serves as founder and president of Giving Health to Kids, a charitable organization dedicated to advancing neonatal and maternal care in Guyana, a country in South America, through clinical training, equipment and sustainable healthcare infrastructure. • This Saturday, Oct. 24, HCA Healthcare will host our eighth annual “Crush the Crisis” national prescription drug take back day. In partnership with local law enforcement, we’ll help communities across the country safely and anonymously dispose of unused or expired medications at more than 130 collection sites. 💊 Held in alignment with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, #CrushTheCrisis raises awareness about the dangers of prescription drug misuse and the importance of safe medication disposal. Since 2019, HCA Healthcare has helped safely dispose of more than 100,000 pounds of unused or expired medications. “Safe medication disposal is a simple but important step each of us can take to help prevent drug misuse and protect our communities,” said Dr. Randy Fagin, senior vice president and chief quality officer of HCA Healthcare. “As we mark eight years of Crush the Crisis, we are grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside our neighbors and community partners, working together to make the communities we call home safer and healthier for everyone.” ➡️ Find a collection site near you and discover how #CrushTheCrisis is helping build healthier tomorrows: https://bit.ly/4iywobt. #TakeBackDay #HealthierTomorrows

With approximately 218,000 babies delivered across HCA Healthcare in 2025, we're committed to advancing evidence-based care that supports healthier pregnancies. 💜 Together with March of Dimes, we are working to help more moms at risk for preeclampsia — a serious pregnancy complication affecting approximately 4-8% of all pregnancies in the United States. Through the Low Dose, Big Benefits campaign, supported by a $1.5 million grant from the HCA Healthcare Foundation, we're helping clinicians and patients better identify preeclampsia risk and understand when low-dose aspirin may be appropriate. “Preeclampsia is one of the most serious conditions we monitor for,” said Kjersti Aagaard, MD, PhD, a maternal-fetal medicine physician and national physician advisor at HCA Healthcare. “Preeclampsia is high blood pressure and damage to the kidneys, liver or other organs which is unique to pregnancy.” The American Medical Association recently spoke to Dr. Aagaard and Dr. Michael Warren, a pediatrician and chief medical and health officer with March of Dimes, about this collaboration and how the low-dose approach has been shown to reduce the risk of preeclampsia by 15%. Learn how HCA Healthcare and March of Dimes are helping close preeclampsia prevention gaps: https://bit.ly/4dQKimI. #HealthierTomorrows

  • This #PharmacyWeek, we're spotlighting HCA Healthcare colleague Alison Ellinghuysen, a pharmacy technician specialist at 🏥 Lakeview Hospital in Utah. Alison's dedication to caring for others is rooted in a family legacy of service. Growing up, Alison watched her mother care for patients as a nurse at the same hospital, while her father served their community as a firefighter, EMT and public servant. Their example inspired her own journey in healthcare. Alison began her career at Lakeview Hospital in 1989, spending eight years in materials management before joining the pharmacy team in 1997. Nearly 30 years later, she continues to bring a lesson from her parents to her work: Treat every patient like family. "We are neighbors caring for neighbors," Alison shared. We’re proud to recognize Alison and pharmacy colleagues across HCA Healthcare for their dedication to patient safety, teamwork and compassionate care that helps patients receive safe, high-quality care every day. #CareLikeFamily

  • When Justin Rogers was rushed to 🏥 HCA Florida Healthcare Lawnwood Hospital with a brain aneurysm, life changed in an instant for him and his family. Amid the uncertainty, they found hope in an unexpected place — another patient’s story shared on social media. The story belonged to HCA Healthcare patient TJ Freitas, who survived a life-threatening brain hemorrhage after receiving lifesaving care at the same hospital in 2024. His experience offered reassurance to Justin's wife, April, as her family faced a similar medical crisis. “Seeing TJ’s story gave me hope. I knew Justin was in the right place and things would work out,” April shared. The connection didn’t end online. TJ visited Justin during his hospital stay and was there to celebrate as Justin walked out of the hospital. Across HCA Healthcare, our hospitals care for approximately 12,000 patients with aneurysms each year and perform more than 3,000 aneurysm procedures. Our network also includes 45 comprehensive stroke centers, supporting access to specialized care for patients facing complex neurological conditions. Beyond the care we provide, patient stories can have a lasting impact. TJ told his story without knowing who it might reach. For Justin and his family, it offered hope when they needed it most. 💙 #HealthierTomorrows
