Justice systems are already using algorithmic tools to make high-stakes calls, risk scores that shape bail and parole, facial recognition that drives arrests, AI-generated evidence that lands in front of judges. Most of it runs with little transparency and even less oversight, and young people moving through juvenile courts feel it most. The Justice Education Project just released its Youth Agenda on Algorithmic Tools in the Courts, a call for real guardrails on these systems: transparency about when they're used, accountability for how they fail, and a meaningful chance to challenge them. It's backed by a serious coalition, including Ruha Benjamin, Chesa Boudin, UN Special Rapporteur on the right to privacy Ana Brian Nougrères, The Gault Center, and the National Police Accountability Project.
