Atlanta - the UNCF's annual UNITE event is always special. Latimer.AI was invited to present in the BIG room in 2024 when we first launched and Erskine "Chuck" Faush and I had the stage to ourselves. I remain incredibly grateful to Dr. Michael Lomax, CEO of UNCF. And the rest of the UNCF team, present and past, who've been so supportive: Kendra Sharp Deas, Renee Ducre, Julian Thompson, Ed Smith-Lewis, Chad Womack, PhD, Tyrome Smith and many others. This year we get to present a piece of software, EVE (Equitable Value Explorer) that Latimer built with the Student Freedom Initiative. Led by Keith Shoates (Keith S.), Ron Crozier, Yvette Thomas and of course, Robert F. Smith, the Student Freedom Initiative is doing important work to expand opportunity and improve outcomes for students. EVE helps students and their advisors better understand and visualize the potential return on investment associated with their higher education choices, including the institution they attend, the major they select, and where they plan to live after graduation. EVE, and Latimer.AI more broadly, would not be possible without the hard work of Elton Sampaio, Sayan Maity, PhD, on EVE and David Nyarko, Hadiza M., Shanti T., across the rest of the business. I want to thank Munson Steed and Courtney I. Williams, two partners who are always there when we need them. And Malur Narayan who kicked us off pointing our fundamental technology in the right direction.

A Family Field Guide for Navigating the AI Wilderness: Designed to help caregivers, youth, educators, and community members explore the opportunities, challenges, and complexities of artificial intelligence together, published by the Center for the Study of Race and Ethnicity in America, Brown University (CSREA). We're excited that the Guide includes a "Why Latimer" example, demonstrating how a simple prompt can generate markedly different responses across AI systems. Latimer.AI had the chance to join Prudence Carter, who leads CSREA, for an event at Brown University featuring a keynote by Baratunde Thurston. Having the opportunity to speak with a Civil Rights legend like Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis, Jr. is, for me, a defining life moment. A man who worked alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as a teenager, survived wrongful imprisonment as one of the Wilmington Ten, led the Million Man March, and helped birth the environmental justice movement — Dr. Ben has not just witnessed history, he helped shape it. As an AI optimist, I believe we can use Artificial Intelligence like Latimer not just to memorialize what was done, but to capture how it was done, and how it could be done in the future.
