  • This #WorldFoodDay, let’s take a closer look at what’s on our plates! 🍽️🌍    Choosing local food can have benefits, but when it comes to climate impact, what we eat often matters more than how far it has travelled.    For example, beef generally has a higher climate footprint than plant-based proteins such as beans, peas and lentils. 🌱    Discover delicious recipes and simple food choices with the #Cook4Climatecampaign - part of #LIFEProject Food Choices 4 LIFE.    🍽️ Explore, cook and make every meal count!  https://lnkd.in/erfMFGvT  #LIFEProgramme

  • The #EULIFE26 Call for Proposals has received a record number of applications!    1430 applications have been submitted across the four sub-programmes:   ✔ Biodiversity & ecosystem restoration    ✔ Circular economy & waste reduction    ✔ Climate change mitigation & adaptation    ✔ Clean energy transition   ️  📈 A 30% increase compared to 2025, with applicants requesting over €4.3 billion in EU funding.    Read more: https://lnkd.in/eNz5J5mT #LIFEProgramme

  • What if parts of your car were made from plants? 🌱  LIFE BIOBCOMPO replaced mineral fillers with plant-based cellulose fibres to create a low-density biocomposite for vehicle parts, about 8% lighter and ready for standard injection moulding  The result is on the road: since 2022, around 10,000 vehicles carry a part made from the material, starting with the dashboard of the Lancia Ypsilon. Coordinated by SAPA, with Stellantis as end customer, the project was backed by the LIFE Programme in the move from laboratory to market, with close-to-market (C2M) support opening the door to new potential customers. • This #WorldMigratoryBirdDay, discover how the #LIFEProgramme is helping birds complete their journey safely!      Every spring and autumn, millions of birds follow the Danube on their migration across Europe. 🕊️ But power lines can be difficult for birds to see and some electricity poles can pose a risk of electrocution.     For rare species such as Dalmatian pelicans, Red-breasted geese, Saker falcons and Imperial eagles, these hazards can be fatal.     💚 That’s where #LIFEProject Danube Free Sky comes in.     The project is making dangerous sections of the electricity network safer by installing highly visible flight diverters on power lines and insulating thousands of poles.     The work is expected to save at least 2,000 birds every year in the Lower Danube and Danube Delta.     And there’s a wider benefit: safer infrastructure can also mean fewer power outages, equipment damage and wildfires.     Learn more: https://lnkd.in/er_v8cdb

  • How can cities become greener, healthier and more resilient? 🌱 Our new publication, “Greening cities with the LIFE Programme”, showcases nine #LIFEProjects demonstrating practical approaches to the urban challenges of today and tomorrow. The projects explore three interconnected dimensions: 🏙️ greener cities 🏗️ sustainable buildings 🤝 citizen engagement Together, they demonstrate how innovation, sustainable urban planning, participatory approaches and effective governance can contribute to more sustainable, climate-neutral, resilient and people-centred urban environments. Explore the brochure and discover how the projects are bringing these ideas to life across Europe, inspired by the New European Bauhaus values and principles, nature-based approaches and sustainable urban planning: https://lnkd.in/ehdyZu2g #LIFEProgramme

  • How can Europe turn peatland restoration ambitions into action?     At the Power to the Peatlands 2026 conference in the Netherlands, more than 560 participants from 30 countries came together to explore practical approaches to restoring these important ecosystems.     #LIFEProjects were at the heart of the discussions.     LIFE Multi Peat is restoring and rewetting degraded peatlands across five countries, while LIFE PeatCarbon is using measures such as blocking drainage ditches and remote sensing to restore raised bogs and monitor their impact. Peat Pals for LIFE is improving the hydrology of more than 300 hectares of peatland habitats in the Netherlands and Flanders, while also exploring ways to finance and scale up restoration.     More than ten LIFE projects contributed to the conference, demonstrating how restoration, biodiversity conservation, greenhouse-gas monitoring and climate resilience can come together in practical projects.  Since 1992, around 400 LIFE projects have supported peatland-related activities, including approximately 120 projects focused exclusively on peatland areas.     Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/eAGGHZ-e     #ClimateAction  #LIFEProgramme
