This week, the UN Biodiversity Conference (COP17) opens in Yerevan 🇦🇲. The EU will work with all countries to turn global commitments on nature into action. Our priorities: 🌍 Speed up delivery of the global nature framework agreed in 2022 💶 Mobilise finance – as the EU is on track to double our international biodiversity funding to €7 billion 🤝 Put local communities centre stage, as well as Indigenous Peoples. Healthy ecosystems are a foundation of human prosperity. 55% of global GDP is highly dependent on nature. Over half of modern medicines are derived from natural sources. The EU stands behind our global commitments. We will continue to invest into nature at home and support international efforts. Here's how: link.europa.eu/kYhGkc

🌱 Good choices start with trust. From detergents and textiles to furniture and hotel stays, the EU Ecolabel helps you identify products and services that both do a great job and meet solid environmental criteria. And there’s good news: according to a recent Eurobarometer survey, more Europeans now recognise and trust the label, and choose greener products thanks to it. 🔸 81% trust that EU Ecolabel products have a lower environmental impact than similar products without the label. 🔸 Close to half of respondents recognise its flower logo. 🔸 46% buy products carrying the label, up from 8 percentage points since 2023. And, a growing number of businesses are obtaining the label for their products. The choice of EU Ecolabel products on the market has never been bigger! We’re making the sustainable choice the easy one. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eEyrTyPF

Women shouldn't have to anticipate violence. Yet, with nearly 1 in 3 women having experienced physical and/or sexual violence, the reality is, they often do. This month marks three years since the EU joined the Istanbul Convention, a landmark treaty recognising gender-based violence against women as a violation of human rights. It sets out concrete measures to prevent it, to protect victims, and hold perpetrators accountable. Building on this commitment, we adopted the first-ever Directive on combating violence against women and domestic violence, strengthening action to prosecute rape, tackle certain forms of online violence, and improve protection and support for victims. 🔗 Learn more about the Istanbul Convention: https://lnkd.in/eXSSZzrH

Cleaner energy. Better healthcare. Smarter answers to climate change. Every big leap starts with research. Today, we are launching RAISE. It invites companies and philanthropic organisations to give researchers across the EU what they need to move faster: AI tools, computing power, data, and training. It is part of our AI in Science Strategy. The goal is to connect Europe’s brilliant scientists with technology and expertise to turn ideas into real solutions. Europe doesn’t wait for the future. We build it. More 👉 link.europa.eu/K6Hkh4

Hunger isn't just an empty stomach. It’s the line between health and harm. Last year, 266 million people were pushed to the brink of acute hunger. Emergency food aid is how we make the difference: 🌾 The EU delivers critical food and nutrition support as crises multiply. 🌾 Roughly a third of our total humanitarian aid budget is targeted at fighting hunger. 🌾 Working alongside local partners, we step in where conditions are most severe. In 2025 alone, that meant putting over €622 million directly into life-saving aid. The work isn’t finished, and neither are we.

Help can come before a disaster starts. Early warnings, satellite maps and shared data are changing how we protect communities. Our new Compass on Space and Disaster Risk Management turns data into action that protects lives and livelihoods, especially where wildfires, floods and storms strike. The best rescue is the one that never has to happen. We’re building a Europe that sees it coming, and a world that does the same. More: https://lnkd.in/d5Mw5giG

Upholding democracy takes work, every day, and we all have our part to play! In September, we gathered 150 randomly selected people from across Europe in Brussels to discuss how we can make our democracies stronger. This weekend, they’re gathering once again to continue the discussion. Then, following their final session in December, they will put forward some concrete proposals that will directly feed into our policies. And you can be a part of it too! Hot take: a good job is one you don’t dread on Sunday evenings. Over the past decade, pay, job security and working time have improved across the EU. That is what our new Employment and Social Outlook finds. But too many people still face unsocial hours, short contracts, and low pay. Hospitality, support services and some lower-skilled jobs are where it shows most. That is why we will present the Quality Jobs Act later this year. More: link.europa.eu/G3rdrr
