Screen time policies often measure minutes, not impact. For administrators weighing device use, the real question isn't how much time students spend on screens, it's whether that time is passive consumption or active, teacher-guided learning. The two produce very different outcomes, and treating them the same can lead to policies that limit the tools actually driving engagement and achievement. This is exactly why we do this. 🌍 Two Bradford schools, live lessons with DELTA WATERS in Botswana, and students learning together across thousands of miles. Christine Mayers captures it perfectly: technology opens the door, but it's teachers and students who make the connection meaningful. Proud that Lumio gets to be part of the Bradford to Botswana story.
It’s no secret my favourite days at work are the ones that take me back into schools. 😊 Today I had the privilege of visiting two Bradford schools involved in the ‘Bradford to Botswana’ partnership and seeing first-hand what has grown from Robert H.’s idea into something really special. In one class, a lesson was being delivered live from DELTA WATERS in Botswana, with a class in Bradford connected and participating virtually. In another, a teacher in Bradford was leading the learning, with a class in Botswana taking part. In both cases, children in Bradford and Botswana were learning together, asking questions, sharing experiences and contributing as one class despite being thousands of miles apart. What made this even more special was teachers and leaders from Delta Waters are visiting Bradford this week, spending time in the schools, meeting colleagues and seeing the partnership from this side of the hemisphere. Having had the privilege to see these relationships develop over time, it was lovely to see connections that started online continuing face-to-face. Being welcomed into classrooms is never something I take for granted! Today was a reminder that while technology can connect people, it's the commitment of teachers, school leaders and pupils that turns those connections into something meaningful.
