  • The 2nd Annual International Scientific Wargaming Conference, hosted by the Military University of Land Forces in Wroclaw, Poland, brought together military leaders and international wargaming experts to advance innovation in professional military education, leader development, and future warfare. Among those exchanging ideas on professional wargame design and military excellence were Brig. Gen. Matthew Tracy, commanding general of Education Command and president of Marine Corps University; Keith Martin-Smith, founder of HEXWAR and designer of more than 60 commercial wargames; Sebastian Bae of the Center for Naval Analyses; Vice Adm. Georgios Floros, Hellenic Navy (Ret.); Col. Timothy Barrick, USMC (Ret.), director of the Brute Krulak Center for Innovation & Future Warfare; and Sgt. Maj. George Garcia, Education Command sergeant major. The conference reinforced the importance of Allied and partner collaboration in developing military leaders capable of making sound, risk-informed decisions amid uncertainty. Through realistic, complex wargaming environments, participants explored approaches to sharpening leaders’ ability to visualize, describe, and direct operations across multiple domains, integrate capabilities, and adapt as battlefield conditions evolve. These efforts strengthen professional military education and reinforce the Marine Corps’ commitment to developing and assessing leaders prepared to command effectively in an increasingly complex operational environment.
