Medley does what you would do if you had unlimited time to support your multilingual learners.
About us
Medley does what you would do if you had unlimited time to support multilingual learners – automatically adding research-backed, customized scaffolds to your existing grade-level content. Our platform makes it easy for teachers to meet students where they are, providing supports that are tailored to each learner’s English proficiency and academic needs. Using frameworks like WIDA and drawing on best practices in language acquisition, Medley helps schools ensure that multilingual learners can access rigorous grade-level instruction without the time-intensive prep work that often slows down teaching. From vocabulary supports and sentence frames to guided reading tools and comprehension scaffolds, Medley layers these resources seamlessly into the materials teachers are already using, in real time. Medley makes equity in the classroom practical, scalable, and sustainable. By giving educators the tools to differentiate instruction efficiently, Medley empowers multilingual learners to thrive academically while supporting teachers in their critical work.

Medley started with a simple idea: every student deserves access to rigorous, grade-level learning, with the right supports to help them succeed. We started by building those supports for multilingual learners. Now, we're excited to take what we've learned and explore how Medley can better serve students with disabilities. And we know we can't do that work alone. Through our partnership with the Joan Ganz Cooney Center at Sesame Workshop, we're bringing together research, expertise, and, most importantly, the voices of students themselves to help shape what comes next. We're excited to build on what we've started, learn from young people, and create tools that open up even more opportunities for more students. Thank you to the Joan Ganz Cooney Center for being such thoughtful partners in this work!
We’re excited to share that Medley Learning is joining the Joan Ganz Cooney Center Sandbox for Literacy Innovations! Medley is a browser extension for student devices that automatically adds scaffolds to texts based on each student's English proficiency level. In the Sandbox, Medley will explore how they can expand their model to help students with learning challenges such as dyslexia and ADHD. Welcome to the Sandbox, Medley! A student’s home language shouldn't only matter to their bilingual teacher. It should matter to every educator in the building. At Mannheim School District 83, Dr. Piedad Kaye helped make that belief part of the district's culture, shifting how teachers across classrooms recognized and valued their students' multilingualism. In our latest episode of Leading Multilingual Learning, Piedad reflects on what it took to build that shared commitment. Season 2 of Leading Multilingual Learning is here! We're kicking things off with someone very special to Team Medley: Dr. Piedad Kaye. After 40 years in multilingual education, Piedad recently retired from her role leading bilingual education at Mannheim School District 83, where she helped build an extraordinary culture of biliteracy. Piedad also serves on Medley's advisory committee, and her decades of experience, research, and commitment to multilingual learners have helped shape how Medley was built. In this episode, Piedad joins Brandon Cardet-Hernandez to reflect on her career and explore: - Building an asset-based biliteracy program from the ground up - Earning family trust and bringing communities along - The power of el dictado and co-teaching - Moving from compliance to a culture that truly values multilingualism One of our favorite parts? Hearing Piedad reflect on the incredible people she's learned from and worked alongside over the years, including Kathy Escamilla, Susan Hopewell Boulder, Dr. Andrea Honigsfeld, Marc Brackett, David Nieto, Olivia Ruiz-Figueroa, Kim Petrasek, Margo Gottlieb, Tim Boals, Peter DeWitt, Ed.D., and more. We couldn't imagine a better guest to kick off the season. AND: We're sharing resources from the episode in our Leading Multilingual Learning Newsletter, dropping this week. We're so excited to be joining the Joan Ganz Cooney Center at Sesame Workshop's Sandbox for Literacy Innovations, alongside some incredible organizations! We're already digging into the research as we work to expand Medley's supports for students with disabilities. And in just a few weeks, we'll get to do one of the most important parts of this work: co-designing with kids themselves. We can't wait to hear directly from students about what works for them, what they need, and what we haven't thought of yet. Their perspectives will help shape the supports we build, putting the young people who will use Medley at the center of our product design from the start. Huge thanks to the Joan Ganz Cooney Center for bringing us into this work. We're excited for what's ahead!
The Joan Ganz Cooney Center is proud to announce that four inspiring partners are joining the Sandbox for Literacy Innovations, bringing together researchers, developers, and families to rethink how literacy tools are designed - with children’s voices and experiences at the center. By fostering these cross-sector partnerships, we’re working to spark real change in early learning. Welcome to the Sandbox, Kai XR, Medley Learning, Seesaw Learning, and Toogs! There’s nothing quite like being in community with people who care deeply about kids — and who are doing the work to make our schools better for them. Next week, our Founder and CEO, Brandon Cardet-Hernandez, and Director of Strategic Partnerships, Andrea Cano, are headed to Denver for the Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents 23rd National Summit on Education. ALAS is always an incredible convening of Latino superintendents, administrators, and education leaders. Leaders bringing their experiences, perspectives, and whole selves to the work — and opening doors for the students and communities coming behind them. We’re excited to learn from them, spend time with old friends, make some new ones, and be part of a community that means a lot to us. Denver, see you soon. ❤️

That's a wrap on the IEI National Fall Summit in Charleston. 📸 Our Founder and CEO, Brandon Cardet-Hernandez, spent three days with superintendents and district leaders from across the country. The team dove deep into enrollment trends, new funding streams, the changing technology landscape, and even one of the toughest leadership decisions: school consolidations. At the same time, one theme came up again and again: districts are serving rapidly changing populations of multilingual learners, and leaders are looking for better ways to ensure those students have access to rigorous learning. Real work doesn't happen in a silo. Thank you to the Institute for Education Innovation for bringing this community together, and to every leader who made time to talk with us.
