  • Investing in the skilled workforce today builds fleet readiness for generations to come. PHNSY & IMF recently hosted Project MFG representatives for a behind-the-scenes look at the people, training, and industrial capabilities that sustain the US Navy’s Fleet. Project MFG’s work to connect students, educators, industry, and government aligns with the shipyard’s long-term commitment to strengthening the maritime industrial base. By expanding awareness of careers in welding, machining, and other critical trades, these partnerships help build a resilient workforce prepared to meet future maintenance and modernization demands. The capabilities required to repair, maintain, and modernize Navy ships and submarines cannot be built overnight. They depend on sustained investment in people, technical education, mentorship, and real-world opportunities to develop skill and experience. At #PHNSYIMF, building that workforce helps ensure the fleet remains #FitToFight for generations to come. • If you look closely, you’ll see the mission is right there. Fleet readiness is built through the skilled work of repairing, maintaining, and modernizing ships and submarines. At Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility, every maintenance availability and modernization effort contributes to the availability and capability of the US Navy’s Fleet. #PHNSYIMF keeps the Fleet #FitToFight. • Explore the countless possibilities for the next generation at #PHNSYIMF. It’s #STEMSaturday, and we are looking back at when Aiea High School students visited Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility. Students saw emerging technology in action during an iLab demonstration of a robotic dog, then stepped into the industrial workshops to learn how skilled trades support the maintenance and modernization of US Navy ships and submarines. At the #NoKaOiShipyard, the next generation of the workers can find a path that fits their interests and skills, whether through #STEM, industrial trades, military service, or a Navy civilian career. There is a place to #JoinTheOhana and support the mission of keeping the Fleet #FitToFight. #PHNSYSTEM | #NavalSTEM | 📸 Kenny Jones https://lnkd.in/guSwnSPH

  • Tight tolerances. Right technique. Critical work done right. Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & IMF nuclear welders recently supported critical submarine construction work at General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, Connecticut. The cohort integrated into active production lines supporting Pre-Commissioning Unit District of Columbia (SSBN 826) and Virginia-class submarine construction. The team adapted its maintenance, modernization, and repair expertise to a demanding new-construction environment where components are permanently installed according to strict fabrication sequences. Working in restricted spaces and under rigorous radiographic inspection standards, the welders contributed to critical production work while sharing knowledge and lessons learned across the submarine enterprise. Bringing in #PHNSYIMF welders reinforced the value of public shipyard expertise in supporting the future fleet. Now back in Hawai'i, this crew is applying new construction experience and hard-earned lessons to sustaining the US Navy Fleet from the Pacific keeping them #FitToFight! • Going for a walk around the waterfront at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility is a step toward supporting the Fleet. As one of the nation’s few public naval shipyards, #PHNSYIMF plays a critical role in maintaining and modernizing Fleet assets operating across the Pacific. Across the shipyard, a walk may lead through a dry dock, into a workshop, aboard a ship, up to a crane, or alongside the pier as a submarine passes by. In each area, our workforce is executing simultaneous maintenance, repair, and modernization projects that strengthen readiness and contribute to the Maritime Industrial Base. We get gritty, step up to the task, and deliver the readiness the US Navy Fleet needs to stay #FitToFight. PAE Industrial Operations Take a walk with us here: https://lnkd.in/gpTfDCfy

  • Strategic sustainment starts with people.   Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility played a key role in a first-of-its-kind Royal Australian Navy training rotation that is helping build the skilled, interoperable workforce needed to support future submarine sustainment in the Pacific.   Since 2025, Royal Australian Navy Fleet Support Unit sailors joined training at PHNSY & IMF with ASC Pty. Ltd. Civilians. Alongside US Navy personnel and civilian experts, this cross-functional team gained practical experience in U.S. submarine maintenance, including diagnostics, equipment repair, testing, troubleshooting, and machine-shop operations.   The rotations strengthen more than technical proficiency. It builds the professional relationships, instills common maintenance practices, and creates a shared understanding of readiness that will be essential as we advance AUKUS objectives and support Submarine Rotational Force-West.   By investing in people, sharing expertise, and strengthening strategic partnerships, #PHNSYIMF is helping build a more capable sustainment enterprise that keeps the fleet #FitToFight.   Learn more about how PHNSY & IMF is supporting the AUKUS partnership here: https://lnkd.in/gkKiBjtg Story by Ashley Calingo & Photos by Kenny Jones Royal Australian Navy | ASC Pty Ltd | #WarfighterWednesday

  • Leadership is a team effort that connects across the waterfront. Capt. Ryan McCrillis, commanding officer of Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility, welcomed Capt. John T. Frye, commander of Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, and Rear Adm. Rich Jarrett, commander of Navy Region Hawaii, for a tour of the shipyard waterfront. Readiness depends on strong partnerships. As they walked the waterfront, the leaders discussed infrastructure projects, specialized maintenance capabilities, emergency operations, and all-hazards response readiness. The visit strengthened shared awareness of the shipyard’s mission and the coordinated support US Navy warfighters rely on across the Pacific. By working together across organizations and mission areas, shipyard and regional leaders help ensure the capabilities are in place to maintain the Fleet, respond when needed, and keep the Pacific Fleet #FitToFight.
