AWNY 2026: The Age of Collaboration At Advertising Week NY 2026, Shorty Awards' Chief Evangelist Jeff Barrett joined AJ Eckstein 🧩 (HIRING) (Creator Match 🧩), April Little (Executive Material), Tameka Bazile 🟢 (Business Insider) and Moises Mendez II (USA TODAY), for “Collab Culture: Why Everyone Wants To Build Together.” One standout observation? Product used to be the moat. Now, distribution is. As AI makes content easier to produce, trusted voices and established communities matter more than ever. That same focus on connecting creators and brands carried into Dhar Mann’s initiative, where our Managing Director Junmian Sun and Chief Evangelist Jeff Barrett joined leaders across brands, talent, production, agencies, and distribution. The goal was to spark conversations that could lead to $100 million in new creator-brand partnerships, turning collaboration into tangible business opportunities. 👉 Read our full AWNY recap for more takeaways: https://lnkd.in/efwkxc_g

Back in 2009 the idea of having an award show to honor online creators was laughed off by most. Yet when Lee and I launch the Shorty Awards, it went viral immediately. Many people thought it was just a fad, yet here we are and it's gotten bigger than ever under Junmian Sun's excellent leadership. Last night, the Shortys became a Jeopardy! question. That said, we still don't take ourselves too seriously. Can you guess what the answer is for $400?

Just a casual name drop on last night's Jeopardy 💁 #ShortyAwards Do you know the answer? Put your guess in the comments! Watch this full episode here: https://lnkd.in/etNbpMta

Don't forget the VOTE for your favorite finalist! 🗳️ https://lnkd.in/gjJBmbRe Did you know voting for your favorite finalist gives them a special audience honor award? Voting is open until 11:59 PM ET on October 13th.

This is my first time speaking at Advertising Week New York. An absolute honor, especially knowing I’ll share stages with people I deeply admire, listen to their podcasts every week, and, luckily, get to call colleagues and friends. For someone who talks for a living, I’d rather listen. Somewhere in my late 30s (the exact date is lost on me), I started listening more than I spoke. I’d rather highlight other people, celebrate their wins and figure out how we can all grow. I was talking with Ash Kumra this week about abundance vs. scarcity, and a lot of this clicked into place. So yes, I’m speaking, I got a new haircut and it’ll be fun as hell. April Little, Tameka Bazile 🟢, Moises Mendez II and AJ Eckstein 🧩 (HIRING) are incredible. But I’m just as excited to sit in sessions, learn, be present and have conversations I did not plan. Come find me and say hello. And a huge thank you to Michael Gewirtzman, Ruth Mortimer, John Kraski, Monica Khan and Dhar Mann for giving me the opportunity to add to an already incredible week.
