AI Office of Ireland’s Post

The establishment of Oifig IS na hÉireann (AI Office of Ireland) represents a significant milestone in Ireland's approach to #AIgovernance. We were pleased to officially launch the Office alongside Minister Peter Burke, Minister Niamh Smyth and CEO Paul Byrne. As Ireland's independent central coordinating authority for the implementation of the #EUAIAct, the Office has been established to support the effective regulation of AI, promote public trust in #AItechnologies, and help ensure that Ireland is well placed to realise the opportunities that AI presents. AI is already transforming our society and economy, it is creating new opportunities for businesses, researchers and innovators. As these technologies continue to develop, it is important that innovation is supported within a clear framework that safeguards fundamental rights and protects the public interest. The #AIOfficeofIreland will work with citizens, businesses, public bodies and stakeholders across Ireland and Europe in support of the implementation of the EU AI Act and the development of a #trustedAI ecosystem. A key priority will be ensuring that stakeholders can engage with the Office as implementation progresses, helping to build a common understanding of both the opportunities and responsibilities associated with AI. We would like to thank everyone who worked on the establishment of the Office and look forward to working with the public, businesses and stakeholders in the years ahead.

Congratulations on this important milestone. Establishing a trusted AI ecosystem requires more than regulatory compliance-it requires governance that organisations can demonstrate in practice. As implementation progresses, helping organisations operationalise accountability, decision authority and evidence for AI-supported decisions will be just as important as understanding the legislation itself. I look forward to seeing the Office's work develop.

Congratulations on the establishment of Oifig IS na hÉireann / the AI Office of Ireland.  From a PANORAIMA perspective, this is a very welcome step. Effective implementation of the EU AI Act will require practical capability-building across sectors and professions.  In healthcare and life sciences, trustworthy AI depends on human oversight, transparency, accountability, data governance and risk management.

A significant milestone for Ireland’s business and innovation ecosystem. AI has enormous potential to strengthen procurement, supply chains, quality control and international trade, but its development must be supported by clear standards, accountability and trust. Congratulations on the establishment of the AI Office of Ireland and on this important step towards responsible innovation across Ireland and Europe.

This is a significant milestone for Ireland. The real challenge now is moving from regulation to implementation in a way that gives organisations the confidence to innovate responsibly. In education particularly, schools need practical guidance to help leaders, teachers, students and parents understand both the opportunities and responsibilities that come with AI. Governance isn't about slowing innovation—it's about creating the trust that allows innovation to flourish safely. I'm looking forward to seeing how the AI Office engages with the education sector as schools continue to prepare young people for an AI-enabled future.

Wonderful to see this formally launched, and worth marking, Ireland is meaningfully ahead of most of the EU on this. Article 70 required every member state to designate a national competent authority a year ago. A staffed office with a named CEO is a genuinely different thing from a line in a regulation. Looking forward to seeing how the Office engages with startups directly as implementation progresses, that stakeholder relationship is often where these offices prove themselves.

Welcome, and good timing. The transparency rules and enforcement powers went live the same week you opened your doors. From the deployer side of the fence, the hardest part of implementation won't be explaining the rules to the companies building AI. It will be reaching the thousands of Irish organisations that bought a tool and don't yet know they inherited an obligation with it. A contractor in Cork running a chatbot on tender queries is in scope and almost certainly doesn't know it. If a key priority is stakeholder engagement, that second group is where the common understanding is thinnest. Glad to see an Irish authority to engage with at last.

As one of the largest professional bodies and training organisations in AI qualifications on the island of Ireland and globally, we would love to have a conversation about how we can support the work of the #AIofficeofireland and Niamh Smyth and Peter Burke.

Congratulations to the AI Office of Ireland! As a major European tech hub, Ireland will undoubtedly set the benchmark for operationalizing the EU AI Act. For businesses, the challenge now shifts from policy to execution. When autonomous AI operates at machine speed, paper policies and manual reviews fail. Building a trusted ecosystem requires governance at the network layer. That’s why we built CAIS (Compliance AI Shield)—a sub-20ms proxy that acts as a hard brake on the wire, mathematically enforcing transparency and data boundaries before execution. To test technical readiness against these new standards, Wayne Smith launched free diagnostic audits: 🇪🇺 EU AI Act: https://www.complianceaishield.co.uk/audit-eu-ai-act 🔒 UK GDPR: https://www.complianceaishield.co.uk/audit-uk-gdpr 💷 FCA: https://www.complianceaishield.co.uk/audit-fca ⚖️ SRA: https://www.complianceaishield.co.uk/audit-sra A massive milestone for European AI governance! #EUAIAct #AIGovernance #AIOfficeOfIreland #CAIS #StopShadowAI
