  • September has seen a series of engagements by the AI Office with stakeholders across the AI ecosystem. As part of its ongoing stakeholder engagement programme, the Office has engaged with CeADAR Ireland, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), Forensic Science Ireland, Ibec and Meta. Engagement with stakeholders is an important element of the Office's work. These discussions provide opportunities to exchange perspectives on developments in AI, understand emerging challenges and opportunities, and engage with organisations operating across research, industry, government and public services. As AI technologies continue to evolve and the regulatory landscape develops, ongoing dialogue with stakeholders helps inform the Office's understanding of the broader AI ecosystem and the practical issues facing organisations developing, deploying and using AI systems. The Office welcomes engagement with a diverse range of stakeholders and values the exchange of experience and perspectives. Constructive dialogue across sectors will continue to play an important role in supporting effective and trustworthy AI governance. We thank all those who engaged with the Office during September and look forward to continuing these conversations in the months ahead. *AI Modified* #AI #AIGovernance #AITechnologies #ArtificialIntelligence #AIOfficeofIreland

  • The AI Office of Ireland welcomed His Excellency Manabu Miyagawa, Ambassador Japan to Ireland for a courtesy call.   Our CEO, Paul Byrne, and colleagues from the AI Office were pleased to meet today with His Excellency Manabu Miyagawa, Ambassador of Japan to Ireland, and his colleague Iwasaki.   Ireland and Japan share a strong relationship built on common values, deep economic connections, and a shared commitment to international cooperation. As we approach the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our two countries next year, the meeting provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on the strength of Irish Japanese relations and to explore areas of mutual interest for the future.   Discussions included the growing importance of international engagement on emerging technologies and artificial intelligence, and the opportunities these technologies present. In an increasingly interconnected world, collaboration and knowledge-sharing between trusted partners will play an important role in shaping the responsible development and adoption of human centric AI.   We greatly value the relationship between Ireland and Japan and look forward to continued engagement in the years ahead. *AI Modified* #AI #AIGovernance #ArtificialIntelligence #AIOfficeofIreland #AItechnologies #Ireland #Japan

  • New EU Icons for AI-Generated Content The transparency provisions of Article 50 of the EU AI Act are in force since 02 August 2026. There is a grace period for the marking obligation until December 2026 for generative AI systems placed on the market before 2 August 2026 (Article 50(2) AI Act, amended by AI Omnibus). The European Commission has introduced a set of voluntary EU icons that may be used to label certain AI content. These icons form part of the Commission's broader work to support the implementation of the AI Act's transparency requirements. The icons are intended to help the public recognise when content has been generated or altered using AI systems. Their use supports informed engagement with digital content and contributes to transparency and public trust. The Commission has developed icons for different situations, including: • AI involvement in content creation; • Fully AI-generated content; and • Partially AI-modified content. The icons are a component of the Commission's Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-Generated Content, which complements the Guidelines on Article 50. While the use of the icons is voluntary, the transparency obligations under the AI Act are not. Organisations may also wish to consider becoming signatories to the Code of Practice, demonstrating their commitment to the responsible and transparent use of AI systems. Further information, including the icons and details on becoming a signatory to the Code of Practice, is available in the links in the comments section. *AI Modified*. #AITransparency #AItechnologies #AIgovernance #EUAIAct #ResponsibleAI #TrustedAI #AIOfficeofIreland

  • The European Commission has published its Guidelines on Article 50 of the #EUAIAct and the first list of signatories to the Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-Generated Content. From 2 August 2026, the transparency obligations under Article 50 can be enforced. The publication of the Guidelines and the Code supports the implementation of these obligations and provides greater clarity for providers and deployers of AI systems. • The establishment of Oifig IS na hÉireann (AI Office of Ireland) represents a significant milestone in Ireland's approach to #AIgovernance. We were pleased to officially launch the Office alongside Minister Peter Burke, Minister Niamh Smyth and CEO Paul Byrne. As Ireland's independent central coordinating authority for the implementation of the #EUAIAct, the Office has been established to support the effective regulation of AI, promote public trust in #AItechnologies, and help ensure that Ireland is well placed to realise the opportunities that AI presents. AI is already transforming our society and economy, it is creating new opportunities for businesses, researchers and innovators. As these technologies continue to develop, it is important that innovation is supported within a clear framework that safeguards fundamental rights and protects the public interest. The #AIOfficeofIreland will work with citizens, businesses, public bodies and stakeholders across Ireland and Europe in support of the implementation of the EU AI Act and the development of a #trustedAI ecosystem. A key priority will be ensuring that stakeholders can engage with the Office as implementation progresses, helping to build a common understanding of both the opportunities and responsibilities associated with AI. We would like to thank everyone who worked on the establishment of the Office and look forward to working with the public, businesses and stakeholders in the years ahead.
