𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐨𝐧’𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐎𝐟𝐠𝐞𝐦’𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 Elexon welcomes the proposed policy rationale and governance framework for the Smart Data Repository (SDR), which has the potential to improve access to #electricity data, building on the data and infrastructure established through Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS). The SDR could support better system planning, research, innovation, consumer-led flexibility and new digital services, while maintaining appropriate safeguards for privacy, security and regulatory oversight. Our response highlights the importance of a clear, proportionate and flexible framework that builds on existing governance arrangements, provides clarity on legal requirements and consent, and supports effective delivery and the SDR’s future development. 📢 Ofgem grid related consultations keep on coming. Ofgem published its Transforming the Connections Experience and Transforming Connections Data: outputs/next steps of the connections end-to-end review last Friday. On Connections Experience, Ofgem is looking to introduce new licence conditions establishing consistent minimum requirements at key stages of the customer journey, including the information provided to customers, the content of connection offers and the management of project changes throughout the delivery process. As well as the new licence conditions applicable pre-application and post-application, the Connections Experience consultation refers to: 📆 Network operators issuing "ambitious yet achievable connection offers, taking account of reasonable customer expectations"; with opt-in mechanisms for customers to accept earlier or alternative connection opportunities where these become available. 💰 Ofgem strengthening the Guaranteed Standards of Performance for DNOs and introducing greater-than-zero Liquidated Damages provisions in connection agreements for TOs, to bolster incentives on network companies to meet agreed delivery commitments. ⚖️ Agreeing a common enhanced dispute resolution framework. Both consultations close on 6 November 2026. Following publication, Ofgem will begin drafting the associated licence changes and guidance. Ofgem expect network companies to consider how the principles and expectations set out in the consultation can be adopted on a voluntary basis in advance of formal implementation. The Connections Experience consultation refers to aligning new licence obligations coming into effect with the start of ED3 in April 2028. The consultations can be found here: https://lnkd.in/eVX7Hdjt https://lnkd.in/eceNEtV2 #GridConnections #GridReform

A hot topic in the world of heat networks. If you're considering heat network adoption you should be talking to Ieman Barmaki and sooner rather than later.
𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲. 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴. With the January 2027 deadline for full Ofgem authorisation approaching, developers who retain ownership and operational responsibility for heat networks face a growing compliance burden. From fair pricing and customer protections to financial resilience, disaster recovery, and business continuity – the requirements are significant. But developers don’t have to take that burden on themselves. Ireland’s data centres will soon play a more active role in keeping the grid stable. At the upcoming Convergence conference this week, ABB’s Lee Todd and Carlos David Martinez Nieto will unpack Ireland’s new grid code requirements MPID345 and what this means for large demand facilities. Attendees will learn: ⚡ Why data centre behaviour during a fault matters ⏱️ Why rapid recovery requires coordinated control 🔋 How ultracapacitors could support grid stability 🏗️ What implementation could look like at new and existing sites Join Lee and Carlos to hear how data centres can protect critical operations while supporting the stability of the wider grid. https://convergence.ie/ #Convergence #DataCentres #GridStability #MPID345

NERC’s first package of proposed Reliability Standards for computational loads has cleared its initial industry ballot. ⚡ GRID NEWS NERC reported that all five draft standards in Project 2026-02 passed the first ballot: CLO-001-1, CLO-002-1, CLO-003-1, FAC-001-5, and FAC-002-5. The package needed at least a two-thirds segment-weighted majority, and each standard met that threshold (RTO Insider, September 22, 2026). The drafts address computational-load ownership and operations, operational data and communications, protection coordination and disturbance monitoring, and related facility interconnection requirements. NERC’s formal posting identified the work as a response to emerging reliability risks from large electrical loads, including data centers and artificial-intelligence infrastructure (NERC Project 2026-02 formal posting announcement, August 20, 2026). Passing the first ballot is a development milestone, not final regulatory approval; RTO Insider reports that the standards are due to FERC by December 31. For utility teams working through these same operating and coordination issues, Data Center & Large Load Operations provides 12-month course access for $697 and is currently available. It is directly relevant to understanding how large-load behavior, operating data, communications, and grid coordination affect reliable operations: https://lnkd.in/gSP7erB6 #gridreliability #dailygridintel #electricmarkets #nerccompliance #ferc #datacenters #largeloads

New NERC Reliability Standards for Computational Loads Take a Major Step Forward Preliminary results indicate that the foundational Computational Loads Reliability Standards (Project 2026-02) have successfully passed their initial ballot phase. New or revised standards: The initial ballot successfully advanced five critical standards targeting large load integration, including CLO-001-1 through CLO-003-1 for computational load interconnection, operations, and protection, alongside revised facility standards FAC-001-5 and FAC-002-5. New Functional Entities: NERC has proposed formal Rules of Procedure revisions to introduce two brand-new registry types: “Computational Load Owner” and “Computational Load Operator.” Risk Mitigation: The standards build directly upon insights from NERC's May 2026 Level 3 Essential Action Alert to enforce robust modeling, instrumentation, and control. 🔗 Read the full announcement in the [NERC Newsroom]: "Computational Loads Standards Advance Following Initial Ballot" https://lnkd.in/eH_4NeRZ #Energy #GridReliability #DataCenters #AIInfrastructure #Utilities #NERC #FERC #ComputationalLoads #TechInfrastructure #CryptoMining

🚨 Supply-Chain Research Lead: NATIONAL TECHNOLOGY & ENGINEERING OF SANDIA Secures $43.46B A substantial federal mandate was logged from Energy to private contractor NATIONAL TECHNOLOGY & ENGINEERING OF SANDIA. The Core Data: • Prime Contractor: NATIONAL TECHNOLOGY & ENGINEERING OF SANDIA (Privately Held) • Capital Allocation: $43.46B • Authority: Energy • Proprietary Signal Score: 60/100 Why this matters for public markets: Because NATIONAL TECHNOLOGY & ENGINEERING OF SANDIA is a private entity, direct equity execution is impossible. The real analytical angle lies in the supply chain: Which publicly listed subsystem vendors, cloud providers, or component fabricators capture the downstream pass-through margin from this award? 🔎 Explore the complete contract dossier and contractor footprint: https://lnkd.in/evgiYjuA How do you approach private primes: Do you look for the cloud infrastructure layer, hardware integrators, or skip private awards entirely? #GovernmentContracts #SupplyChain #DefenseTech #MarketIntelligence *Statutory spending data audit.
