95,000 customer emails were exposed because of one missing instruction to AI. ⚠️ An employee at Singapore retailer Bee Cheng Hiang used generative AI to write code for a bulk email campaign. The prompt never told the system to hide recipient addresses. 🧠 The AI did what it was asked to do. 📩 Testing checked the logs, not the email customers would actually receive. 👀 No second reviewer caught the issue before it went live. AI-generated code can work exactly as intended and still create a security problem when the prompt misses something important. An AI agent can cross a legal boundary. It can’t face charges. So who does? The developer? The company that deployed it? The employee who handed it the password? AI agents are already getting credentials, system access, and the power to act independently. Before giving an agent the keys, every company must answer: 1. What can it access? 2. What has it done? 3. Can we stop it instantly? Who should be held accountable when it crosses the line? Everyone wants to debate tomorrow’s AI, but today’s AI already has the password. Follow eSecurity Planet for more on AI security, emerging cyber threats, and how to defend against them. #Cybersecurity #AISecurity #AIAgents

⚠️ A trusted npm package can become a credential theft vector. Attackers used a breached GitHub maintainer account to publish malicious updates to popular npm packages. Because the changes were delivered through legitimate GitHub Actions workflows, they appeared authentic while distributing credential-stealing malware. The campaign targeted npm, GitHub, cloud environments, Kubernetes, Vault, API tokens, SSH keys, and certificates. Review affected dependencies, rotate exposed credentials, and rebuild trusted systems to prevent further compromise. Attackers are finding the weak spots between models, vendors, policies, and response plans. 🧠 Cisco researchers found that subtle image changes can bypass vision language model safety mechanisms, exposing gaps in controls many teams rely on for AI security. 🎓 ShinyHunters-linked attackers disrupted hundreds of Instructure Canvas by Instructure portals during finals week. 🎭 Deepfake incidents are exposing gaps in cyber insurance policies and traditional controls, especially where synthetic identity fraud and executive impersonation are involved. Some of the biggest threats to AI systems don’t come from hackers, they come from insiders. 👀 A U.S. jury convicted a former Google engineer of stealing thousands of confidential AI-related documents over several months. The stolen files contained details of Google’s core AI infrastructure and were taken to support China-based tech ventures. 👉 Get more context and defender takeaways in today’s Cybersecurity Insider: https://lnkd.in/d8JkgwD3 #Cybersecurity #AIsecurity #InsiderThreat #DataProtection #InfoSec #SecurityOperations

Most cybersecurity experts struggle with one thing: explaining risk in a way leaders actually understand. The problem isn’t your knowledge. It’s the translation. Executives don’t think in CVSS scores or technical jargon. They think in: ✅ Business impact ✅ Financial risk ✅ Operational disruption If you can’t connect cyber risk to those, your message gets ignored. Clear communication isn’t a “nice to have.” It’s what turns security into a business priority.
