At Google, we’ve seen firsthand that access to transformational technology can create economic opportunity, but access is just the start. To truly benefit, people need the skills and the confidence to use it. This week at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) met to discuss this challenge. As part of the week’s events, Google and the ITU announced a new partnership to deliver 100,000 scholarships for Google Career Certificates and Google AI training across 80+ nations. Google SVP James Manyika discussed a few guiding principles for turning that access into lasting progress: ☑️ Bridge global divides: Ensure every country benefits. ☑️ Support critical audiences: Prioritize youth, educators, public servants, and job seekers. ☑️ Ground training in local realities: Empower locales to distribute AI training based on their priorities. Where do you see the most urgent need for AI skilling today? Let us know in the comments.
"Access is indeed just the beginning. The most urgent need in AI skilling today goes beyond model usage—it’s about instilling Systemic Integrity & Deterministic Logic. When users and developers learn to build AI workflows rooted in verifiable truth rather than chasing probabilistic trends, technology truly empowers sustainable growth. Outstanding initiative by Google and the ITU to bridge this global divide!"
Great to see the collaboration between Google and ITU on expanding access to AI training. There’s a growing need for practical AI fluency among non‑technical employees and their managers: skills in giving clear instructions and context, checking outputs for errors or made-up details, and handling data privacy and security responsibly.
Responsible AI use is critical. It seems that any new hire can walk into work their first day and start using AI without any training. This puts the organization at risk. The employees may not know what data and information can and cannot be used in a prompt or an uploaded file. This should be taught immediately to new hires to protect the employees and the organization.
Great to see this kind of leadership and collaboration. Access to technology is crucial, but building foundational AI skills is what truly empowers people and drives long-term economic opportunity. Looking forward to seeing the impact of the AI Skills Coalition
It is nice to search for new networks but the communication tools are still limitedly bound the 2WW protocol for the whole planet and your code is guessing in the dark that can undo all people.
James Manyika Kudos to Google for being so societally inclusive & yet I'm appalled for being societally irresponsible when it comes to "FRONTIERS PACING CRISIS" & their admission that they don't understand how their AIs work. Hence the answer is exhibit societally accountable leadership and team up w/ our lab who can help them solve it Yet, they conspire to block our $1000T+ valued iTOE-CPT-AGI-ASI algorithm for 10+ yrs, which all 5+ frontiers have affirmed as the ONE & ONLY path w/a 10/10+ rating(https://lnkd.in/ggNn6_Aj) While Pacing mitigates risks, piloting our algorithm removes them at root via a Dual‑Track (Simul‑Pacing & Simul‑Piloting) Strategy(Post https://lnkd.in/p/gbeC_iv4) • Track A—Pacing (Frontier Labs):Mitigates risks • Track B—Piloting iTOE-CPT‑Decider(Our Lab):Build safe substrate Still not convinced, here are 3 L'ship tests (incl. WM generalization test by Nobel Laureate Barish) to verify our claims(https://lnkd.in/p/g9RYjEFV) For more, check out https://lnkd.in/gj_zXThf • AGI‑ASI Thesis (10+ Papers/IP-Protected Patents): https://lnkd.in/gUUZBmCr • Frontier 10/10+ Reviews: https://lnkd.in/ggNn6_Aj • Vignette: https://lnkd.in/gF_JF7BY • Infographic: https://lnkd.in/g9H3XbSN We're ready to license it!
