Constant availability can easily be mistaken for productivity, especially in environments where responsiveness is rewarded. What’s interesting is how even small opportunities to reset can help us regain focus and protect the quality of our thinking. It raises an important question for leaders: Are we creating the conditions for people to sustain high performance, or are our expectations and ways of working contributing to the very fatigue we’re asking them to manage?
