BREAKING: Skydio ISR Command just launched. Behind every mission in history, someone has had to keep eyes on the objective. Today that job falls to small teams at the tactical edge, and small drone ISR has run one-to-one: one operator, one controller, one aircraft. Every extra aircraft adds another soldier, and every battery swap leaves a gap in the picture. That model can’t scale to what the modern battlefield demands. Skydio ISR Command unlocks a new paradigm: One operator runs two X10Ds from a single controller while Skydio Autonomy flies, tracks, and navigates without GPS. Aircraft rotate on and off station, so a low battery never costs the unit the target. What they see reaches the whole force over TAK and NGC2. ISR Command is available now ➤ https://lnkd.in/gAWj8DKQ

Great step forward for tactical ISR. Persistent coverage, reduced operator burden, and integration into existing C2 workflows are exactly where small UAS capabilities need to evolve. The real value isn’t just keeping eyes on an objective; it’s ensuring actionable information reaches the right decision-makers without adding complexity for the operator. Well done, Skydio team!

Looking back at my time early in my military service, the jump in tactical capability shown here is incredible. Back then, getting persistent ISR meant juggling multiple devices, manually translating grid coordinates, and managing constant handoffs that put a heavy cognitive load on the team. Seeing platforms like the Skydio X10D and ISR Command streamline target tracking, TAK/NGC2 integration, and autonomous handoffs on a single controller shows how far edge-UAS technology has come. Reducing operator workload while keeping unbroken eyes on the target directly saves lives and accelerates the sensor-to-shooter loop. A major step forward for small unit organic ISR.

But what if you could control more than just two? What if there was a company that has already demonstrated controlling a fleet of X10Ds....

Impressive step toward scalable, resilient ISR operations. Reducing the operator burden while enabling coordinated multi-aircraft coverage could make a real difference in dynamic, GPS-denied environments.

Although the industry will welcome this feature, stating it “unlocks a new paradigm” is somewhat misleading. In 2017, Canadian drone company Aeryon Labs Inc unlocked this paradigm with their “AIR” feature (Automatic In-Air Replacement), which maintained persistent surveillance during automated drone replacement. For comparison, in 2017, Skydio had no products released, and was still developing its first consumer product, while we were actively using Aeryon’s “AIR” feature on their R60 drone during front line operations. No disrespect intended…but accuracy counts in this industry.

Nice drone, skydio is getting more powerful than before.
