I tried something new at Google Canada's Think Data Conference. Grabbed a mic and hit the floor to ask Canada's top marketers and agency leaders how they are thinking about YouTube ads, how to measure impact, and their favourite creators (the first answer did not disappoint 😂). - When looking at the saturation curve between underfunded, properly funded, and overfunded brand campaigns, properly funded campaigns are seeing a 2x ROI. - YouTube ads drive incremental sales - Fav YouTube creators? Shoutouts to MKBHD. Casey Neistat, MrBeast, Steve Dangle, and Zoe Pritchard - The last YouTube ad you saw? Shoutout to Tangerine! Huge thanks to the team for organizing the event - James Casaca, Inbal Ondhia Jonny Leung Maggie Chen Fahmid Ahmed Artur Cortez Bellotti de Oliveira Jason Cheung Vivek Shankar Emmett Borg

Yesterday, Sabrina Geremia announced $3.5M CAD in funding from Google.org to support the launch of Cyber Clinics Canada, a national initiative led by Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst, Toronto Metropolitan University. The program connects hands-on learning with community support: 🎓 Practical experience: Cybersecurity learners build their skills by tackling real challenges under expert supervision. 🔒 Community support: Nonprofits and community organizations receive free cybersecurity assistance they may not otherwise be able to afford. Azi Vaziri from Google’s Threat Intelligence Group also joined Jeff Msangi of African Community Services of Peel and Catalyst alum Jelena K. for a panel moderated by Katie Gibson. Their discussion explored the impact of clinics on learners and the organizations they support, and the opportunity to expand that impact across Canada. We’re proud to support the Catalyst in helping colleges and universities bring this model to more communities across Canada. Can AI help accelerate the discovery of new medicines? 💊 A research team led by Assistant Professor Joseph Brown at the University of Toronto’s Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy has received $2.3 million USD in funding from the Google.org Impact Challenge: AI for Science to develop OpenPep, a new AI-powered platform designed to advance peptide drug discovery. Working alongside Philip Kim from the Donnelly Centre for Cellular and Biomolecular Research, University of Toronto, Christopher Ing from ProteinQure, and Keith Pardee from the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, the team aims to build an open-access database and AI model that will help scientists predict how peptides interact with disease-relevant proteins. By combining large-scale experimental data with artificial intelligence, OpenPep could help researchers around the world identify promising therapeutic candidates faster and more efficiently. Thank you to Google.org (Google Canada) for supporting innovative, collaborative and open-access scientific research. 🔗 Learn more about OpenPep and the research team: https://lnkd.in/gn9GvaD7

Celebrating 25 years of building Canada’s digital economy together 🇨🇦. To help ensure every Canadian can participate in this momentum, we’re announcing two new national AI skills training initiatives: 🔵 Partnering with YMCA Canada to distribute up to 100,000 scholarships for our latest Grow with Google AI courses, giving more Canadians access to these vital skills. 🔵 Providing over $2.7M CAD in Google.org funding to the Canadian Chamber of Commerce to launch a national AI Adoption Program for small businesses.
