  • Why is global LNG so tight when new US and Canadian supply is coming online? Middle Eastern supply losses are reshaping the LNG landscape for winter 2026-27. Even as US exports ramp up, disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz are cutting average Qatari volumes by 60% year-over-year, and 67% below pre-war expectations. This shortfall is outpacing new North American capacity, leaving Asia-Pacific and Europe scrambling for a shrinking pool of flexible cargoes. The EU ban on Russian LNG from January 2027 will further intensify competition, forcing Europe to rely more on spot cargoes and raising price volatility. Meanwhile, Asian buyers are locking in long-term US contracts, reducing the volume available for spot trading and tightening the market even more. Explore the full analysis and implications for global LNG trading. Join our LNG Market, Pricing and Commercial Fundamentals course in Dubai this November, built for people who trade, hedge, or analyse the LNG Market.
