Which forwards are primed for fantasy fortune?

Rotoworld Player News

Cooper Flagg

DAL Forward #32

Cooper Flagg (shoulder) heads to the locker room early holding his shoulder.

Cooper Flagg got hit from a hard foul and went to the locker room early to get his shoulder checked on.
Kyrie Irving

DAL Guard #11

Mavericks head coach Dusty May said on Friday that Kyrie Irving’s minutes will be limited in Friday’s game against the Pacers.

Irving played 23 minutes in Wednesday’s loss to the Rockets, his first game since suffering a torn ACL on March 3, 2025. Given the time away from competitive basketball, Kyrie’s limited minutes are not a surprise. May did not disclose in his pregame availability whether Irving will be available for Saturday’s game against the Spurs.
Jett Howard

DAL Guard #9

Jett Howard (calf) is out for Friday’s game against the Pacers.

Howard’s continued absence will not affect fantasy basketball, as he is not guaranteed to receive rotation minutes even if healthy.
Jett Howard

DAL Guard #9

Jett Howard (calf) is doubtful for Friday’s matchup with the Pacers.

Howard will miss a second consecutive game to open the 2026-27 campaign, and it’s unclear when he’ll be ready to return. His absence won’t impact fantasy basketball.
Caleb Martin

DAL Forward #16

Caleb Martin (thumb) and Tarik Biberovic (heel) are out for Friday’s matchup with the Pacers.

Both players will miss a second straight game, though neither’s availability will make a difference in Dallas’ rotation. Fantasy managers can safely leave them on the waiver wire.
Kyrie Irving

DAL Guard #11

Kyrie Irving had 15 points (6-of-9 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), four rebounds, two assists, one steal and one three-pointer against the Rockets on Wednesday.

Irving was limited to just 23 minutes against the Rockets Wednesday as he was returning from injury. The 34-year-old point guard missed all of last season with a torn ACL and a calf strain. Irving still scored 15 points on nine attempts in those 23 minutes. Expect his minutes and production to increase as the Mavericks ease him into the beginning of the regular season.
Cooper Flagg

DAL Forward #32

Cooper Flagg had 32 points (10-of-17 FGs, 11-of-13 FTs), five rebounds, two assists, three steals, one block and one three-pointer in Wednesday’s game against the Rockets.

Flagg filled up the stat sheet and dropped 32 points in the Mavericks season opener. There’s not much more you could ask from the 19-year-old, which shows how much of an uphill battle it might be for Dallas this year as the Mavericks lost to the Rockets by 18. Flagg and the Mavericks have two more games this week with a back-to-back against the Pacers and Spurs on Friday and Saturday.
Kyrie Irving

DAL Guard #11

Kyrie Irving, Max Christie, Cooper Flagg, P.J. Washington and Daniel Gafford will start Wednesday’s game against the Rockets.

Christie and Flagg were the only starters to take on that role in the Mavericks’ final game of the 2025-26 season. Irving, Washington, and Gafford are back from injury and will round out the starting five on Opening Night. It’s unclear whether Irving’s minutes will be limited, but don’t be surprised if the Mavericks don’t ask him to take on a full workload immediately.
Walter Clayton

DAL Guard #4

Walter Clayton Jr. will be available against the Rockets for season opener

Clayton signed a two-way contract today with the Dallas Mavericks and will be available to play. Given that he’s on a two-way, its unlikely that he impacts many fantasy leagues early on in the year.
Jett Howard

DAL Guard #9

Jett Howard (calf) is out for Wednesday’s game against the Rockets.

Listed as questionable on Dallas’ initial injury report, Howard was downgraded to doubtful on Wednesday afternoon. He’s out now, and the former first-round pick’s absence won’t affect the Mavericks’ rotation or fantasy basketball.
