Trying to still rebel about AI in September 2026 is like still trying to use horse and carts in the 1940s at this point. The car and truck had won and there was no going back. The fact that Linux users have to be dragged kicking and screaming to new tech (Wayland, Rust, Systemd, etc) every time should tell you something about the mentality of some of the developers. Steve Jobs would have embraced AI if he was still alive, in fact Siri was added to the iPhone on his last day.

There are plenty of useful alternative payment systems now making its use as currency redundant and Bitcoin was obsolete from day one because anyone can irreversibly steal your money if your private key gets leaked (of which it is very easy with AI-found security flaws in operating systems, see Coldcard and MTGox). You can't even get "rich" with Bitcoin anymore as all the "cheap" coins have been cashed out it lost in a landfill.

The only reason Bitcoin still exists is because people don't take real economics classes anymore and think they can generate "value" by "hodling". Same goes for all those stupid Pokemon cards where low wage retail workers get harassed by scalpers. Slashdot should have a topic ban on Bitcoin so we don't keep having the same "number go up" posts.

Back in the 2000s they said its no good learning CS because it will all be done in India, in the 90s they said its no good learning it because everyone will just use visual basic to write software. In the 80s they said everyone will just use generic DOS PCs instead of expensive minicomputers and mainframes. The list goes on.

They should have done it back in the 2010s, instead of trying to make everything a web app. But you get Google Accounts instead of Microsoft/Apple accounts, so you're still "in the system", just with a different intake valve. But trying to stay out of the system (Non-Android Linux or BSD) gets you classified as "not human", a "cheater" or "unknown age" these days, so you are forced into the machine one way or another.

When too many companies merge together and the conglomerate becomes an unwieldly mess.

You go to school to "distil" the teacher's expertise, you distil from the books and websites you read. The actual main problem with distilling from an another AI is model collapse due to recursive slop training. With all human knowledge sources already scraped, they only have got themselves to train on.

You already scraped up the entire human written internet and destroyed multiple fields of STEM research, but now you have 8.3 billion angry humans to deal with now, who still have the capability to disconnect your ethernet cables.

But then you can pay them $60 to get that removed. Paid deshittification is the new business model.

Live distros have been doing this for decades now. It's nice that we have a new option, but Linux has been saving Windows from itself for longer than Windows XP existed.

Just like tobacco companies operate in the "technically legal" sphere, the Facebooks, Reddits and X's of the world precalculate the amount of possible fines, and just run more ads to compensate for the losses. Simple bans don't work anymore thanks to distributed residential proxy botnets spoofing geolocation anywhere in the world and AI assisted ID generators.

We have to deal with the fact that a significant part of of society have addiction disorders and no matter what the substance, someone will get addicted to it. Notarization is Apple's strict code signing process, which makes it hard for non paying and anonymous developers to distribute third party Mac software. Linux lets you run unsigned software without compromise.

Especially with AI and ARM64 server development. Having to go through brew, containers and Apple's notarization process makes MacOS not a serious platform compared to bare metal Linux. In a twist of fate it is MacOS that is not ready for the AI desktop. Asahi is stuck on M1 and M2 so can't help you with M6 Macs.

GPUs should be for games and graphics not hallucinating on scraped texts. Save the water and land supply for nature.

And that human authors are paid money so they can print new copies.
