yes, gnome went crap, and took the toolkit with it however mate or xfce is much better than even cinnamon.
Only problem I have is really being able to see if I like mate or xfce, but am leaning more to xfce maybe.
I just wish I could change colors and things like I could a decade ago.(in all OS's) and even worse, why is there no longer active vs non active distinctions in title bars?!?!
That will lock you out of using you tv smart features like disney+, netflix, etc as they will require updates to keep working. (we've already ran into with a different brand tv)
more than likely its the fact linux people more likely to use ublock, noscript, pi-hole or other equivalent methods that end up preventing from being reported to 3rd party tracking systems.

actually what many companies do is the products (say TV) being sold at different stores at almost the exact same thing. Almost., just different enough to not be the exact same thing.

Right, flagging things as dupes is also worry some, as the right answer to the same question changes over time.
And that's assuming that the original had the correct one listed, and is relevant to whats being asked, and the answer is complete and local not just a link to a now dead source.
They need to assume
1. It may not be easy to find correct relevant dupe
2. The dupe may not be seen as relevant
3. The old answer may not be correct anymore.
IMO the answer should be pulling in a dupe and allowed to be voted if correct or not, not a shutdown.

A few more core food items Chicken, Beef, Bread, Broccoli
cost of media (netflix was enough, not it's not and it went up in price too)
Taxes (mine went up 3+ times since then, which was % base before so it really hurts)
And, last but most important is wages!

GOD! I hate discord, but that's where users are, and have been trying to nudge people to matrix, which is still a pile of crap but at least allows open communication.
I miss icq/aim/yahoo messenger.(oh the days of using everybody and pidgeon!!) I miss being able top send files to friends. (and no, things could work even when both parties nat'ed) and things can still be open and secure even if something has to sit between on occasion to get 2 nat'ed p2p devices to work.

95/98 where good. NT was great. xp, 2000, 2003 was good. windows 7 had some reason but was largely good. windows 8 trash, windows 10, well not as bad as 8, and somehow upgrading to it was at least not as bad as 11..... and 11 was kind of better than 8. Oh yea, vista was garbage.
But 10, and 11 forced MS online only accounts and onedrive and all the spyware and store front crap.... If the Gov was only as corrupt as they where in 90s they would have been taking to cort a dozen times over.
