A wish has been granted, as the LEGO Group announced today a brand-new partnership with Toei Animation, the legendary anime studio behind the iconic Dragon Ball franchise created by Akira Toriyama. Through this collaboration, the LEGO Group will bring the action and adventure of the Dragon Ball universe to the LEGO portfolio for the very first time this year, with more to come in 2027 and beyond.
Dragon Ball has achieved mainstream pop culture status worldwide as one of the most successful and recognizable anime franchises in history. Created by Akira Toriyama and produced by Toei Animation, the Dragon Ball franchise now spans six episodic series, “Dragon Ball,” “Dragon Ball Z,” “Dragon Ball GT,” “Dragon Ball Z Kai,” “Dragon Ball Super” and “Dragon Ball DAIMA,” and 21 feature films as well as numerous mobile and video games, a trading card game and an ever-expanding catalog of licensed merchandise and location-based entertainment.
To kick off this exciting new partnership, the LEGO Group is unveiling its first LEGO Dragon Ball product: the 1,764-piece #11390 LEGO Icons Dragon Ball Shenron & Goku building set. Builders can recreate the powerful moment when Shenron rises from the seven Dragon Balls, with Kid Goku riding his Kintoun at the heart of the scene, celebrating one of anime’s most enduring heroes. Dimensions: Measures over 12.5 in. (32 cm) high, 9.5 in. (24 cm) long, and 10 in. (26 cm) wide,
Inspired by the original “Dragon Ball” episodic series, the LEGO design team studied animation frames and classic poses, while experimenting with building techniques and structural solutions to authentically translate Shenron’s distinctive silhouette and scale into LEGO elements. The result is a dramatic display piece that showcases Shenron’s long, looping form, flowing scales and sculpted details.
Kid Goku appears on his Kintoun at the center of the scene. Builders can detach and reposition the minifigure to create various storytelling moments, honoring the bond between Goku and Shenron while giving fans the freedom to shape their own story through the model’s display options.
The storytelling continues with a playful tribute to the franchise at the base of the model, with seven 2×2 bricks – the seven Dragon Balls – anchoring the scene in the mythology that has shaped generations of Dragon Ball stories. Builders can construct the model with confidence by using the LEGO Builder app, which provides detailed 3D digital instructions to zoom, rotate, and track progress along the way.

For fans of the Dragon Ball franchise, the wish has only just been summoned. The LEGO Group and Toei Animation partnership will continue in 2027, with the two brands continuing to explore the action and adventure of both Dragon Ball and LEGO elements.
