A greener, fairer future for travel: extraordinary trips created with local experts around the world 🌍 🌿

À propos

Evaneos was created in 2009 with the goal of revolutionizing the travel industry. We’ve always been driven by the conviction that it’s possible for trips to be better for travelers and the places they visit – and we were certified B Corp in 2022. Our model is simple. We’re the first company to connect travelers directly with a meticulously selected and constantly evaluated community of expert local agents around the world. They are dedicated – like us – to making travel a source of positive impact. Together, we craft extraordinary and one-of-a-kind trips that are both unique to each traveler and in respect of local cultures and communities. By choosing Evaneos, travelers not only support an alternative and ethical model for the industry but see the cost of their trip directly benefit local economies.

Paris Academy 2026: AI & the Future of Local Travel Expertise 🚀 Last week, agents from all over the world landed in Paris for a day built around one question: how can AI become a real, practical ally in their everyday work? 🎯 109 agents. 87 agencies. 49 destinations. All gathered for the Academy and the evening cocktail that followed. The day was structured around three tracks, Foundation, Growth, and Mastery, so each agent could start exactly where they were and leave with an action plan built for their own reality. A keynote and panel opened the day, setting the tone before agents split into workshops tailored to their level of AI use. What came back from the room was clear: concrete, usable knowledge. The kind they could start applying the very next day in their agencies, not just ideas. And that's really the point: AI only matters if it stays in the hands of the people who know their travelers best. The strength of local travel expertise isn't threatened by new tools, it's sharpened by them, as long as agents are the ones shaping how they're used. 🌍 A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this happen: Anne LEVI, Paula Pastor Dominguez, Romain Rousseau, Pierre Couderc, Lou Anfriani, Alexia Lafitau, Roddy Vera, Regis M. Susanna C., Bjarne Hartmann, Cristina VASQUEZ, Ugo Basciano, Sarah Quatela, Alice L., Loïc Cárdenas, Alec D., Valentine Cornetti, Maëlis Peretjatko, Laura Kotyga, Balthazar Boncza Rutkowski, Paola Paro, and Florencia González Fernández.

Carbon removal and carbon offsetting are not the same thing. As corporate climate action evolves, understanding that distinction is more important than ever. At Evaneos, we've spent the past year refining our approach to addressing ongoing emissions: what we take responsibility for, and the standards we apply. That work led us to Klimate, a Copenhagen-based carbon removal partner whose rigorous scientific due diligence and commitment to high-integrity climate action align closely with our own. Through this partnership, we'll support a portfolio of nature-based and technology-backed carbon removal projects, including reforestation and biochar. These efforts complement our Carbon30 decarbonization strategy, because carbon removal should never replace emissions reductions, it should address only those emissions that remain after meaningful efforts to reduce them. We'll share more about our broader carbon strategy later this fall, including how carbon removal fits within our overall climate approach. Stay tuned. 🌍

At Evaneos, we've always believed that good intentions aren't enough - responsible travel only means something if we can prove and improve the impact behind it. That's why we're proud to join Equator's founding cohort. The tourism industry is evolving fast, and so is the technology available to us. We see this partnership as a way to put that technology to work: to measure more precisely what our trips actually give back to the destinations and communities we work with, and to get sharper - not just louder - about the difference we're making. We're excited to be part of this first cohort, and to keep pushing our own standards as we learn from it.

We're excited to announce the launch of our first founding cohort of several leading companies in purpose-driven travel: Adventure Travel Trade Association, Evaneos, Jacada Travel, Natural Habitat Adventures and Wilderness Group. Over the next six months, these companies will be the first to discover what their trips give back through a system we've been developing at Equator for the past couple years - a combination of AI, statistical modelling, and big data at a scale surveys have never been able to reach. This early access will give them a level of insight into their own products that hasn't existed before, including how their products are actually performing, the value that their trips create for the destinations and communities they operate in, and the marketing story their impact tells. A big thank you to Much Better Adventures, for working with us on our pilot and helping shape what this became. And thank you to our cohort for joining as founding members: being part of this means seeing what's possible for the future of impact measurement in travel and tourism. Working at the cutting edge of data and impact measurement always carries some uncertainty, and we're grateful for the trust these companies have placed in us as we refine this together.

The climate crisis is here. Travel can't keep pretending otherwise. A few weeks ago, our co-CEOs Aurélie Sandler and Laurent de Chorivit published a tribune in Les Echos on one question: what does travel look like when the old model no longer holds? Their answer: it's not about waiting for a tech fix or a carbon offset. It's about rewriting the rules of travel, together. That means, among other things: 🌍 Shifting collective behavior, not just individual guilt 🧭 Building a new system that works for the planet, local communities, and travelers alike with new standards, where responsibility becomes a driver, not a brake 📅 Guiding travelers toward alternative destinations, off the seasonal peaks ✈️ Linking minimum stay length to the distance flown, because a long-haul flight for 3 days makes no sense 🚆 Opening real access to low-carbon transport like rail, reconnecting distance with meaning, and territories with travelers ...and many more shifts still to build. The future of travel is a balance: distance, duration, frequency, enjoyment. Our tourism model is fragile. The transition has to be fair. And it starts with reconciling escape and responsibility, not choosing between them. Read the full tribune in Les Echos 🗞️ https://lnkd.in/evsqeFCv

We are finalists at the Skift IDEA Awards 2026 for our Indonesia360 project! 🏆 Indonesia360 is our answer at Evaneos to a question every major destination will eventually face: what happens when everyone wants to go to the same place? 👉 In Indonesia, nearly 40% of international visitors head straight to Bali, an island that makes up less than 0.3% of the country's land. As a result, saturated sites, communities under strain, and island hopping itineraries that quietly rack up carbon miles. Our conviction is that the answer is not to slow tourism down, but to spread it better. By combining AI and local expertise, we've committed to redesign tourism in Indonesia, by halving visitor numbers to Bali's eight most saturated sites by 2030, redirecting travelers toward Java, Lombok and Sumatra, or cutting carbon intensity per traveler per day by 23%. 🤝 This award is an opportunity to put the spotlight on the collective work that has been done on the ground with our Indonesian partner agencies. It's the result of shared commitments and concrete actions, built together with our expert partners EquatorAI, ecollective, Wise Steps Consulting and Good Tourism Institute. For that reason, we are supporting the creation of the Indonesian Sustainable Tourism Stakeholder Platform (https://lnkd.in/es5Mcwf9), a locally led initiative run by Wise Steps Consulting. The objective is to bring together international tourism actors operating in Indonesia, alongside local stakeholders, to strengthen collaboration, improve destination management practices, and build a more resilient tourism ecosystem. 👉 You can read more about the initiative and its objectives here: https://lnkd.in/e2AF_WWf If you operate in Indonesia, we'd be grateful if you could: • Consider joining the initiative as a supporting member • Share it with your local suppliers or partners • Amplify it within your network if aligned Results in late August, stay tuned, and good luck to the other participants! 😉 But one thing is for sure: we're already proud of the impact this project is having on the ground, and it’s just the beginning! 🌱 CC Laura K., Sofya Muhrer-Muromets, Alex Juin Lucie De Gaulmyn Valentin Geffroy

Community Tourism, done right. 🤝 This piece captures exactly what our partnership with Planeterra is about: not adding a stop to an itinerary, but building experiences alongside communities, with the right support and a real commitment to local ownership. The SEED community trip with our agency partners in Cape Town is a great example of what that looks like in practice. Because Community Tourism only works when it's genuinely community-led. Thank you to Planeterra, our agency partners and the SEED team for making this collaboration possible. Give it a read 👇

What does it take to build a Community Tourism experience that benefits communities and travellers? Recently, Planeterra and Evaneos welcomed travel agency partners to visit SEED (School of Environmental Education & Development) in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town.  Together, they explored how a Community Tourism initiative rooted in environmental education and local knowledge can deliver meaningful visitor experiences while supporting community priorities. The visit was an opportunity to gather feedback, strengthen the visitor experience, and demonstrate how collaboration can help Community Tourism thrive without losing what makes it unique. A big thank you to Evaneos and its travel agency partners for helping strengthen Community Tourism through partnership. Read the full story below.

🤝 Connecting agencies to communities. Earlier this year, we brought our agency network into Morocco's High Atlas - not for a typical fam trip, but to meet two women-led cooperatives the Evaneos Better Trips Fund and the Planeterra Foundation helped become market-ready. In Zaouiat Ahansal, the Amaguar Cooperative (Kounouz Ahansal) started with five women in 2016 and now counts 125 members, growing organic saffron and weaving carpets by hand. They also run a community nursery - seedlings grown today, sold to local farmers, bought back at harvest. In Tinghir, the Ighir Cooperative rolls couscous by hand, in a kitchen whose members include women living with disabilities. Next door, two small rooms - one for music, one for literacy - teach children with disabilities from the community. Our agency partners spent two days there, cooking, weaving, and listening. 💬 "It felt like a community that had decided, somewhere along the way, that they were all one family," said one of the participants. Because community tourism only works when the people selling the trip have actually lived it. Both cooperatives are now ready to welcome travelers. Thank you, Planeterra Foundation, for building this bridge with us. 💚 cc Original Travels Co

What happens to travel when AI agents start booking it themselves? Last week, we co-hosted a special evening, "MCP Connect - Travel Edition," in our office with interventions from Alpic and Jinko, and welcomed 60 people who came to think through that question with us. Antoine L. (Evaneos) spoke about the hardest part of bringing AI into a legacy-rich product like tailor-made travel: getting the right context to the right place, at the right moment. Pierre-Louis Theron (Alpic) showed how MCP is turning twelve open tabs into a single prompt. Kevin Gauthier (Jinko) explained why MCP is the missing piece that lets any AI agent start selling travel in minutes. What stayed with us from the evening: AI is getting remarkably good at executing. But it still can't tell you what a trip is worth, only a human can. That's the belief we keep coming back to at Evaneos: AI makes planning faster, but the judgment, the trust, and the context that make a trip meaningful stay human work. Thanks to Alpic for co-hosting, and to everyone who joined us 🙏

Think Product Designers just make things look pretty? Not quite. 🎨 Meet Tim Tortosa Designer at Evaneos, the one behind every page travelers land on, so the experience speaks for itself. Behind every intuitive click and every seamless journey, you'll find his work: sketching, prototyping, questioning, simplifying. ⚙️ Today, he's setting the record straight on what the job really looks like: myth vs. reality, designer edition.
