FIFA has acknowledged a ticketing error that allowed dozens of fans to receive tickets for the 2026 World Cup without being charged, but the organisation is now asking those supporters to pay the correct amount if they want to keep their seats.

According to FIFA, approximately 60 fans were affected by a checkout issue that mistakenly processed ticket allocations at a price of $0 during the purchasing process.

The governing body said the tickets remain reserved, but affected supporters have been contacted and asked to complete payment within a limited period.

FIFA Confirms Ticketing Error

The issue came to light after fans reported receiving confirmation messages for tickets that had been issued without payment.

In a statement, FIFA confirmed that a technical problem during checkout resulted in tickets being allocated at no cost.

“The tickets requested by these fans remain reserved, and the affected fans have been invited to complete payment of the correct amount,” FIFA said.

The organisation also apologised for the mistake and any inconvenience caused.

Reports indicate that affected supporters have been given seven days to complete payment or risk losing their tickets.
