A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for Potentia’s End of Series Live Event at The RSA (The royal society for arts, manufactures and commerce) last night. It was wonderful to see so many of our members in the room and to bring the first series of The Potentia Playbook for CFOs to a close in such a brilliant way. Alex Mahon was simply inspirational. Hearing her speak so openly about her career, the reality of leadership, resilience, taking risks and backing yourself was a real privilege, and the comments have been flooding in since. Last night reminded me why being in the right room matters. I had the privilege of attending an event to mark the close of series one of the Potentia Playbook for CFOs podcast at the magnificent The RSA (The royal society for arts, manufactures and commerce) and what an evening it was! Alex Mahon, in conversation with Dominique Highfield, delivered something rare: unfiltered, grounded, genuinely generous leadership wisdom. No corporate gloss. Just hard-won insight from someone who has navigated the C-suite with both grit and grace. The conversation covered so much ground that resonates deeply with where I sit in the finance world, from leading with authenticity and knowing your strengths, to building influence that extends beyond your functional remit. As finance professionals, especially those of us working at the intersection of technology and transformation, we are increasingly expected to operate as business leaders first, not just functional experts. There was also a powerful thread running through the evening around networks as genuine catalysts for opportunity, and what it takes to build a personal brand that earns trust without losing yourself in the process. Being surrounded by a room full of senior female leaders, each navigating complexity, driving change, and lifting others as they go was genuinely energising. A reminder that community is a strategic asset, not just a nice-to-have. To mark the close of series one of The Potentia Playbook for CFOs, we were delighted to bring our community together for a fantastic fireside chat between our brilliant host, Dominique Highfield, CFO of DFS, and Alex Mahon, CEO of Superstruct Entertainment and former CEO of Channel 4. All within the beautiful surroundings of The RSA (The royal society for arts, manufactures and commerce). Alex spoke with honesty, warmth and humour about her career, from her path into senior leadership and her experience as a four-time CEO, to the realities of decision-making, resilience, visibility, risk and building a career that continues to stretch you. It was grounded and deeply inspiring, and everyone took a little something away from it. A huge thank you to Dominique for guiding such a thoughtful and engaging conversation, and to Alex for sharing her time and insight so openly.
