At the forum, we convened leaders from government, economic experts, and labor leaders to move beyond speculation and toward research-backed strategies that empower the workforce. To meet this moment, we were proud to build on our long-standing commitments and announced several key initiatives designed to support workers, researchers, and local communities. This week, Google and MIT FutureTech co-hosted "AI for the Economy Forum" in Washington DC, bringing together leaders across government, industry, civil society, and academia to have an open dialogue around the impact of AI. At the forum, Lab Director Neil Thompson shared major insights on the effects of AI automation trends on tasks, wages, and employment from recent papers "Expertise" and "Crashing Waves vs. Rising Tides: Preliminary Findings on AI Automation from Thousands of Worker Evaluations of Labor Market Tasks" We are extremely pleased to bring these insights to you through an interactive demo based on the "Expertise" research with David Autor: Does automation make experts more valuable or automate away their expertise? In some jobs, automation eliminates expert tasks, reduces wages, and permits entry of less expert workers. In others, it eliminates inexpert tasks, boosts wages, and raises barriers to entry. See for yourself, demo linked in comments. Congratulations Lucy Hampton, Justin Viola, PMP, and Tess Fagan on making research findings more accessible. #EconomicsOfAI #FutureOfWork #AIPolicy #AIResearch #Automation #LaborEconomics #MITFutureTech #TechPolicy #AIandJobs

Since 2022, we have worked on an AI literacy program Experience AI and today we celebrate 3 years of enabling teachers to give young people the knowledge and confidence they need to navigate and shape an AI-enabled world. Experience AI is a free educational programme from Google DeepMind and Raspberry Pi Foundation that expands access to AI education to give teachers everything they need to help young people understand how AI works, how it is changing the world, and how to use it responsibly. Today, Raspberry Pi Foundation has released their 2026 Impact Report, the scale of this collaboration is truly inspiring. Some highlights below I’m proud of. Estimated 2.9 Million Students reached across 180+ countries. 30,000+ Educators trained to lead the AI conversation with their students 700,000+ Resources downloaded in 19 languages. From Kenya to Malaysia, we are seeing a shift: students are no longer just passive users; they are becoming critical thinkers. Our goal is to reach 4.4 million learners by the end of 2026. Google DeepMind’s mission is to build AI responsibly to benefit humanity - and every young person deserves the agency to navigate and lead in an AI-shaped world. 🌍 Watch what students and teachers have to say from the UK, Malaysia and Kenya: https://lnkd.in/eKYnQG2g
